Snuggly – Daily Style

cold.jpg

Holy McMoly it is SO FREAKING FREEZING TODAY! And it’s still technically summer. So annoying. Today was average. Nothing major to report. I’m just about to leave work and go home and relax before I head out for dinner for my lovely friend’s birthday. An evening with girls and cocktails sounds great!

* Black slip thrifted and dyed by Mama Smaggle

* White dress from Big W

* Black cardigan from David Jones

* Scarf from Sportsgirl

* Boots from Target

* Tights from Myer

* Heart Sunglasses from Equip

I do hope everyone has a lovely weekend and I promise to write a post for you all from work tomorrow. While you sleep in and be all snuggly and warm… I’ll be in my office. Writing to you. Think about that okay?

White Cardigan – Daily Style

cranky-pants.jpg

Oh my god. I am so unfathomably cranky today it is UNBELIEVABLE!!! Don’t ask me why because I don’t know why! I just am. This afternoon I’m going to the gym (quickly because if I go for too long I’ll get even more annoyed but if I don’t go and burn some of this tension I may well kill someone) and then I’m off to Japanese lessons and to have dinner with Mr Smaggle and Mr Squiggle. My man and his brother.

* Red dress from Ebay

* Brown boots from Red Path

* Brown leather belt from BCBG

* White cardigan from Stock Jeans

* Gold ring from Mr Smaggle from Dubai

* Black slip thrifted and dyed by Mama Smaggle

* Silver coin necklace from Poppy Smaggle

I think everyone should say something funny in my comments section to make me laugh. I like toilet humour and funny words. Even if you can’t think of funny things to write just write ‘poo’. That would be SO COOL! Just a whole bunch of people who said ‘poo’ and nothing else in my comments section. Come on! Just do it! I write things for you everyday! If you really love me you would do it…

5 Ladies With Rockin’ Style

 I have been a bad blogger. I very very very bad blogger. I’ve been all over Smaggle like a fat kid on cake and I’ve been ignoring all my little bookmarks in my favourites file. I went through all my flagged wadrobe_remixers and here is a tasty treat of their most recent sartorial triumphs. I like to pretend these ladies are all friends and drink herbal tea together and talk about art. And for some reason I imagine them all baking as well… weird.

Military – Daily Style

lamaface.jpg

Today was super busy at work because people kept asking me to do things. Really stupid time consuming things. But other than that I had a great day! It’s Orientation Week at the university and one of my friends is organising the whole she-bang. She gave me a cool show bag that had Halloween M&M’s, chips, badges and a singlet in it! Plus a whole bunch of advertising crap that I threw away. I love free stuff. This evening Mr Smaggle is taking me out for soft shell crab and plum wine at Iori our favourite Japanese restuarant. I can’t wait!

* White dress from Tree of Life

* Military vest thrifted from Salvation Army

* Black flats from a play I acted in

* Black rose ring gift from Baldren Smaggle

* Black beaded scarf from Portmans (around 10 years ago!)

Leather Cuff – Daily Style

mary.jpg

Today was really annoying. I was really busy and everyone was hell bent on irritating me. So for my outfit post this afternoon I’m wearing my ‘Get-the-hell-out-of-my-way-before-I-stab-you-with-my-Wolverine-claws’ face. Although it came out a little more Mary Poppins-esque than I would have liked. This afternoon I’m off to the gym and then to Pilates. Then I’m having dinner at my brother’s house tonight and watching Brat Camp. I can’t wait…

* White shirt thrifted at Brain Injury Foundation

* Black beaded skirt thrifted from St Vinnies

* Mary Janes from Payless Shoes

* Rabbit brooch from Department of the Exterior

* Earrings from Centrepiece (I bought them with a voucher that my delicious friend Kate gave me as a gift for styling her wedding. I love them! Thank you Naomi!)

* Black leather cuff made by my friend Ben

How bloody boring were the dresses at the 2008 Oscars?

 I do love the Oscars. But I must admit I’m usually over the whole thing after all the stars leave the red carpet and go into the theatre. No one I like ever wins and there is always really embarrassing performances. In general I found the dresses this year to be quite boring. There was the occasional gem but they were few and far between. Here is my Oscars bitch for 2008…

rebecca-miller-in-christian-macroix.jpg

Rebecca Miller in Christian Lacroix – I adore this. I love the stripey shoes and the magenta hair. She is also Daniel Day Lewis’ lover. Could any woman be more glorious? I’m questioning Daniel Day Lewis’ shoe choice though. But with those cheekbones who the hell is looking at his feet?

nicole.jpg

Nicole Kidman in Balenciaga – Not a fan of this one I’m afraid. The necklace is rather spectacular but it blends into her ethereal skin and gets lost.

anne-hathaway.jpg

Anne Hathaway in Marchesa – Yuck. Why do nipple flowers? And why are her teeth so big? Why is she so annoying? Why?

katherine-heigel.jpg

Katherine Heigl in Escada – Of all of the thousands of Grecian one-shouldered dresses at the Oscars this year this one is my favourite. And it has nothing to do with my recent obsession with Grey’s Anatomy. Or my obsession with My Father The Hero. Okay fine! I love Katherine Heigl! Is that a crime?

hilary-swank.jpg

Hilary Swank in Versace – Quite pleasant but a little tame. I’m rather enamoured of the rippled/pleated hem.

helen-mirren.jpg

Helen Mirren in Georges Chakra – There was literally an audible gasp to be heard when I first laid eyes on Dame Helen Mirren. She is simply breathtaking. Always.

ellen.jpg

Ellen Page in Jean-Louis Scherrer Haute Couture – A little safe for an Oscar nominee but her performance in Juno more than makes up for her lack of sartorial experimentation. Plus she is adorable.

diablo-cody.jpg

Diablo Cody in Christian Dior – Finally someone with a personality! Gold flats, leopard print and a massive tatt. Damn I love this girl. And her screen play rocks.

amy-adams.jpg

Amy Adams in Proenza Schouler – There is NOTHING I love more than red heads who get how friggin awesome they look in green. Especially deep green.

So all in all it was rather a bit of a yawn wasn’t it? What did everyone else think? Too many one-shouldered dresses? Too many boobs squished into bandeaux? And when did everyone suddenly get too cool for bling? Where were all the Harry Winstons? And Bvlgaris? Come on people it’s the freaking Oscars! Gimme some damn diamonds!

Crochet Vest – Daily Style

crochetmon.jpg

I’m really tired and feeling a bit yucky today so I was a little unproductive at work. Still got everything done just very slowly. This afternoon I’m off to buy a bag! And pick up a DVD that I have had on hold for a million years and they keep threatening to put it back on the shelf if I don’t go in and buy it. And then I’m to spend the evening smaggling the crap out of Mr Smaggle because it’s so lovely to have him back. I reveal here what a smaggle actually is for those of you are interested…

* Tie dyed Metallicus dress from Cowboys and Angels

* Crochet vest thrifted from Salvation Army (man, I was peeing in my pants with excitement when I found this)

* Glass ring from my gay husbands Matt and Ged from the Glassworks

* Boots from Redpaths

* Head wrap from Mama Smaggle from Tasmania

* Turqoise pop-out earrings from Mr Smaggle from San Francisco

How was everyone else’s Monday? Splendid I hope!

Thinking Blogger Award

Aw shucks! I love a good tag I do! This one is from the lovely Whimsical Nerd. It’s always such a pleasure to receive a tag from someone who is so damn stylish it makes my head ache. Check her out. She is truly splendid…What is the story behind the name of your blog and nickname?? Ummm… this is a little odd. When Mr Smaggle and I first started dating (almost 2 years ago) we came up with the word ’smaggle’. Basically it’s a cross between a smash and a snuggle. I know it sounds a little like domestic violence but I promise it’s not. It’s like when you cuddle a kitten and it’s so cute you just want to squish it to death. Does anyone else get what I mean? It’s like really, really, really intense hugs and cuddles all at once. And the ‘Lady’ part just came from my secret desire to one day have a supreme title. Lady Smaggle sounded better than Dame Smaggle. And less granny-ish.What has been your best, and worst, blogging experience?? The best blogging experiences are when people write lovely comments and start intelligent discussions in my comments thread. And when I ask my readers for advice and they all jump in and help, it’s beautiful. I also sometimes get free things and presents which is nice.  Worst blogging experiences are always nasty commenters but thankfully I haven’t had too many of those. Most of them aren’t personal anyway just ignorant people having a rant about something you have written without realising there is actually a person behind the blog. I think sometimes the personal element gets lost in the blogosphere and that readers forget that bloggers are real people. But 99% of my blogging experiences have been wonderful. And I LOVE LOVE LOVE my regular commenters. There’s something really lovely about people making the effort to comment and I really appreciate it. And it’s touching to think that people are reading my site regularly. What do you want to happen to your blog in 2008???Eventually I would like to have a wee little shop to sell some goodies in but that won’t be for a while. I’m also planning on having a street style section to show off the classy lads and ladies of my city. I’ve also been asking readers what they would like to see and I have a big list I’m about to start on! I don’t know who to tag! I think I may have read this on most blogs by now. If you haven’t been tagged and would like to be let me know and I’ll tag your arse off! Love Lady Smaggle xxx

San Francisco Presents!

Yesterday I went to the airport to pick up Mr Smaggle and Travel Monkey. Both arrived home safe from San Francisco and surprisingly free from jet lag. Mr Smaggle brought me home some treats too!

presents.jpg

* Mini Reese’s Peanut Butter Cups. My favourite!

* American money. Because I like to hold big wads of it in my hands and pretend that I am Julia Roberts in Pretty Woman when the Rodeo Drive bitches are mean to her.

* Disney Princesses pins! Disney Princesses! God damn it’s nice to have a man who understands the importance of Disney Princesses.

* An Envirosax. This awesome little bag made of parachute-type material that folds up into a tiny little ball. I always forget to take my bags with me when I go shopping and this way I won’t anymore.

* These awesome pop-out earrings by Melissa Borrell. They are from her Pop-Out Collection which is insanely cool. He bought them at MoMa Design Store.

Oh and Mr Smaggle asked me to thank Tricia from BitsandBobbins for recommending WholeFoods in San Francisco. It was pretty much the only place that sold any wheat-free food and he would have starved without the advice so thanks Tricia!
