The Wild Legs of Anna Sui

by Carly Jacobs
Starting from now I’m going to stop saying that ‘I’m not much of a runway girl.’ It’s clearly a lie considering how long I spend on Style.com and how often I try to scab looks from designer shows. Anna Sui’s Fall 2008 Ready-to-Wear collection is STUNNING! Damn I love that girl… Is anyone as excited as I am about the resurgence of PATTERNED TIGHTS? When I was about ten Read the rest!

Fashion Etiquette – Is it okay to steal your style from other cultures?

by Carly Jacobs
The other day I went to a Bollywood store to find a thick, cuff bracelet with chains. I had recently watched Bend It Like Beckham and really wanted a massive clinky bracelet. I found the perfect one but the lady in the store was so rude to me it was bordering on impossible to buy the damn thing. She ignored me the entire time I was in there until I stood at the counter and she said ‘You buy?’. It Read the rest!

Secretary – Daily Style

by Carly Jacobs
Today was crazy busy again at work but it’s good because it makes the day go fast. This afternoon I’m off thrifting again. I’m determined to find something amazing for the weekend. I also have a voucher to spend which is great because it’s like having free money. Then I have to be home early so I can call Mr Smaggle in San Francisco before he goes to sleep! * Vintage secretary dress thrift Read the rest!

The Perfect Travel Companion

by Carly Jacobs
When my play finished last week Daddy Smaggle said ‘Shit. Here comes the bloody craft mess.’ And the poor bastard was entirely correct. When I’m not rehearsing for a play I craft like an old lady. I think I have A.D.H.D and I just can’t sit still. Anyway, a few weeks ago I bought the book Sock and Glove which shows you how to make little animals out of socks and gloves. It is the cutest bo Read the rest!

Maxi Dress – Daily Style

by Carly Jacobs
Today I woke up early to take Mr Smaggle to the airport. He is going to San Francisco for a week. We both LOVE airports so spent a blissful hour watching planes, eating airport snacks and marvelling at how badly some people treat airport staff. Anyways I then went in to the city and purchased the third season of Beverly Hills 90210. I’ve been watching it all afternoon while making a big crafty mess in the l Read the rest!

Vivienne Westwood – Controversy on the catwalk?

by Carly Jacobs
Read this from today’s Sydney Morning Herald. I’m undecided as to whether this is really cool or really innapropriate. Don’t get me wrong, I love Viv. We go way back. I love a sister who rocks lace like an Empress on crack. The question is this – Is the catwalk a fair avenue for political messages? Particularly messages that are entirely unrelated to fashion?  What do you think? Love L Read the rest!
