Top 5 Style Icons Part 2 – Gwen Stefani

by Carly Jacobs
There couldn’t be a fashion icon list with out my Gwen. I’m a child of the 90′s and spent most of my first year of high school singing No Doubt songs and willing my curly brown hair to miracously transform itself into the covetable poker straight platinum do of Gwen. I loved her when I was twelve. What’s not to love? Lipstick? Check. Blonde hair? Check. Killer bod? Check. Bad arse girl pow Read the rest!

Ethical Dilemmas in the Fashion Blogosphere…

by Carly Jacobs
Today I found an Etsy store that was UG-LY! The words ‘free form’ were bandied about as if that made up for the complete lack of colour and design principles in the product. I was about to post a picture of the Etsy monstrosity when I stopped and thought ‘Hang on a minute. This is some one’s work. Some one’s artistic integrity. Some poor student working their way through school or so Read the rest!

Red Accents – Daily Style

by Carly Jacobs
Today was kinda average. I’m missing my office mate Browny who is away at a conference but she comes back tomorrow so that will be delightful. I will no longer spend the days mumbling to myself and licking the office window. This evening I’m cooking tofu stirfry and making Mr Smaggle watch one of my all time favourite movies What’s Eating Gilbert Grape. I blame this movie for my mid-nineties Read the rest!

How to accessorise a winter outfit…

by Carly Jacobs
I’ve been on this cardigan and headband kick recently and I’m really struggling to accessorise. Normally I wear heaps of necklaces or some really big earrings but it’s winter and they keep getting in the way of all my scarves and hats. Also I think that massive earrings with headbands look cluttered. So I was having a little daydream this morning and I came up with the perfect winter accessory Read the rest!

Top 5 Style Icons Part 1 – Alannah Hill

by Carly Jacobs
A wee little while ago my lovely friend Na asked me to do a post on my style icons and I realised I don’t actually have any. I’m very rarely influenced by other people’s style. I’m far too fickle for that and I tend to borrow individual items rather than shoplift the whole look. So I’m going to do a profile on my 5 top style icons that I admire, not necessarily ones that I emulate. Read the rest!

Leg Warmers – Daily Style

by Carly Jacobs
No my dear, your eyes are not deceiving you. I am now a pioneer for the ultimate accessory of the 80′s. The leg warmers. Now I know that one or two of you little Vogue-ettes out there will tell me that leg warmers had their come back months ago and that they are now a defunct fashion item for the second time but I’m hitting back with the following two points. 1. How many people have you actually seen Read the rest!

How to store your ridiculously large collection of jewellery…

by Carly Jacobs
Oh my. The delightful LC of Fops and Dandies wrote a post about her jewellery collection and very kindly included photos. She also asked for a peek at her readers’ collections. I decided to take her up on her challenge and take a snap of my jewels. I now realize what a big, big freak I am. The shame is palpable. I obviously had a vision of me with a room-sized, Scrooge like vault full of beads and diamantes a Read the rest!

Birdy – Daily Style

by Carly Jacobs
I have had an insanely busy day and I’m completely mental as well. I forgot my phone which I remember leaving in the pocket of my bathrobe for some strange reason. I also forgot to charge my camera which is why today’s photo is a little weird because Ted and I were racing to get the photo taken before it went flat. Oh and I had a haircut this morning that I nearly forgot about. Where is my brain? I&# Read the rest!

Early Style icons – Claudia Kishi from the Babysitters Club

by Carly Jacobs
Yes. I used to read Babysitters Club books. Actually I didn’t just read them I DEVOURED them and I had them all lined up on my shelf in numerical order with the mysteries and super specials on a shelf of their own. I’ve long since donated them all to charity and I am having serious regrets. Why? Because Claudia Kishi, the Vice-president of the Babysitters Club is one seriously stylish senorita. Except t Read the rest!
