Lady Smaggle needs your help!

Help! I have to post my application for NMIT this week (eek!) and I need some help in short listing some of my stuff. Here is a small selection of pieces that I am considering for the application. They will be  photographed more professionally for the application so this is just for an indicator of what people like.

Chandelier earrings (these sit like a mini chandelier with the pearl hidden in curtains of shell beads)

Michael Jackson charm bracelet

Shell and tortoiseshell wire wrapped charm bracelet

Bead woven earrings

Bead woven rings

Tool belt necklace

Swarovski crystal bead woven bracelet

Chain maille bracelet

Cloisonné and crystal earrings

Would you be a kitten and pick your three favourite pieces? And tell me why you like them?

Love (your very stressed) Lady Smaggle

xxx

*gasp* Okay, firstly, you are one talented thing, Lady Smaggle! Secondly, I love, love, LOVE that Michael Jackson charm bracelet – oh my goodness! It’s amazing – I would totally buy it and spend all day swooning over it! :D But more seriously, I love it because it’s so original and unique. My other favourites are the bead woven rings (I imagine that I would feel like a total princess wearing them!) and the Chandelier earrings – purely because they are both so utterly gorgeous, elegant and are such timeless pieces. Congratulations lovely, for creating such wonderful pieces, and good luck with your application! x

  2. Tara

I love them all! If I HAD to pick three, it would be the Michael Jackson bracelet (because who doesn’t love a bit of MJ?), the tool belt necklace (because it’s so cute and quirky) and the chandelier earrings. And the bead woven rings.
But seriously, these are all amazing, you have some serious talent!

  3. Kate

MJ charm bracelet & bead woven rings are my faves – the charm bracelet is just plain fab, am on an MJ kick atm… and the bead woven rings are bold yet classic looking.

  4. Christy

I like the tool belt necklace and the chain maille bracelet best. I like the tool best necklace because it’s something I haven’t seen before and the chain maille bracelet because it has a classic look to it. And both of them bring together something of the tough and the elegant.

  5. E

    Michael Jackson charm bracelet
    Tool belt necklace
    Cloisonné and crystal earrings
(and if I can cheat – the chain maille bracelet!)

All of them are idiosyncratic, striking pieces and they show everything from quirky to tough to delicate.

    Bravo.

  6. Sal

    Gorgeous gems, girl!

Tool belt necklace – quirky, creative, wearable
Chain maille bracelet – classy, sassy, fun
Shell and tortise bracelet – colorful, complex, ladylike

  7. Sarah

Bead woven rings- Simply beautiful! And I’m a sucker for big statement rings :D

Toolbelt necklance- Definitely something that will get everyone’s attention–how would someone not want to know where you got it???

Shell and tortoiseshell bracelet- I imagine it makes a delightful racket, but still feels delicate against your wrist. I’d definitely wear it!

  8. Kialy Tihngang

DEFINITELY the Michael Jackson bracelet. And the tool belt necklace and the beaded rings are also equally AWESOME.

  9. Leah

Oh wow! They’re all rather amazing. My favourites are probably the first chandelier earrings and the bead woven rings.

  10. Andrea

The Michael Jackson charm bracelet – it’s whimsical and different :)
The Chain Maille bracelet – because it’s something classic
The Tool Belt necklace – because I’ve never seen anything like it before

(Can I cheat and add the chandelier earrings too? Just because they’re so pretty and complex.)

  11. Nadist

Chandelier earrings – because they are so ocean-esque and mermaidy.
MJ charm bracelet – because it’s so cute and funny.
Bead woven rings – because they are pretty and unusual.
I think these 3 show a good cross-section of your work, too.

I also really like the tortoiseshell and Swarovski bracelets. You don’t happen to have an etsy shop, do you . . . ?

  12. Scribbles

Shell and tortoiseshell wire wrapped charm bracelet -
Very hot style right now – shows that you can be “fashion”
    Tool belt necklace
This plays up your fun design side (btw, love this necklace) showing your creativity.
    Cloisonné and crystal earrings
Very fine and delicate, simple but gorgeous work so this help to show your range.
Agree with Nadist – when is the grand opening of the Smaggle store?

  13. vasiliisa

My picks would be the MJ bracelet, the tool belt necklace and the chandelier earrings. They seem the most original, quirky and a bit funny too! In fact, I’d really love to have the tool belt necklace,

  14. ambika

The tool belt necklace & MJ charms for funkiness & the woven bead earrings for class & detail.

  15. Dr. Stumpy

    1) Tool belt necklace – never seen anything like it

    2) Bead woven rings – there aren’t enough beaded rings around these days (I hate diamonds)

    3) Chandelier earrings – three dimensional (well of course everything is 3 dimensional as they are not drawings) most earrings are too flat

However the judging panel are unlikely to be short scientist with limited fashion sense…

  16. Lydia

The tool belt necklace is by far my favorite. It takes a neat concept and avoids the pitfalls of being too kitschy, coming off with a strong aesthetic. I also love the chain mail bracelet, though I personally prefer a more burnished, antiquey gold. And the MJ bracelet is fabulous and eyecatching, though some more varied images would really sell it to me.

As it is, I’ll snap up that tool belt necklace if you ever sell them!

  17. Nicole

Ohhh I’m in love with your chain maille bracelet. If you did custom orders (which you may someday!) I’d have you make me one in silver! I think it’s gorgeous.
I love the Michael Jackson bracelet as well, very quirky and unique. Ditto with the tool belt necklace. You’re so talented!!

  18. ninaribena

Wooo, finally we get to see more of your fab talent. Well done on all of them, these ones get my vote:
    1) Michael Jackson charm bracelet – it’s so kitschy and quirky. It shows thought and your sassy wit. I’d like to see one with the iconic Lady Smaggle all over it!
    2) Tool belt Necklace – also enjoy the unusual nature of this one. Very clever.
    3) Chandelier earrings – show a more complicated 3 dimensional design.

Maaaarvelous you. Good luck, Love Nina x

  19. Grant

    1, 2 and 6!!!

Exactly the same as Ninaribena. I F**king love the toolbelt necklace. I would wear that everywhere! And the Michael Jackson charm bracelet is such an awesome blend of kitsch and brilliance!

You are a very talented Smaggle indeed.

    Xx

  20. Marianne

They are all so lovely! I think my favs are:

MJ charm bracelet: quirky and wearable, and it’s cute.
Tool belt necklace: it’s just awesome, what an unusual and pretty idea.
Swarovski crystal bead woven bracelet OR Chain maille bracelet: both beautiful! Eek – I love chain maille, I’ll go for that.

I must say I love the rings too… oh dear, I’m not helping much here!

Good luck, they are fabulous! You are clearly very talented!:)

  21. Emma G

Michael Jackson charm bracelet because it is whimsical

Tool belt necklace because it is super creative and a really great combo of classy and humorous.

The shell and tortoiseshell bracelet because it is gorgeous and I would want to wear it everyday.

The chain mail bracelet is a close runner-up. Your stuff is lovely! The only other thing I might add is for you to choose things that showcase certain technical abilities – they all look amazing to me because I have never made a piece of jewelry in my life but I bet some of these were trickier to make than others.

    Good Luck!!!

  22. Angry Face

Tool belt necklace, all the way.

  23. E(ileen)

    1. Tool belt necklace
    2. Chain maille bracelet
    3. Bead woven earrings

Tool belt necklace is just genius. Chain maille bracelet I feel can be very classy and dress-uppy with an edge. Simple but when made with a precious metal very grown-up. It can also be customised with different metals and shades for completely different looks. Bead woven earrings remind me of the 20s and the 70s, they will be very simple and very elegant.

    Great work Ms Smaggle!

  24. Kerrin

    1. Michael J charm bracelet – it is so original and quirky
    2. Cloisonne & Crystal earrings – so delicate
    3. Rings – they make a statement and are also very girly

ps – also love the tool belt necklace

    Good luck with the decision!!

  25. Azz

    1. Micky J Bracelet. Fucking gold my lady! (Can we finally do something like this with my designs when you’re down here?)

    2. Beaded rings.

    3. A tossup between the tool necklace and the chandelier earrings. Would probably go with the earrings because you’ve already shown your ‘wacly’ with the Micky J.

Hope this helps! Bummed I couldnt be in the bez for the party last week. Your pressie is coming up this weekend. Been waiting since the start of the year to give you this one.

  26. Brodie

Wow your stuff is gorgeous. I would happily buy and wear all of them.
Like everyone else I have to say the Michael Jackson charm bracelet, the mix of old and new is completely unique. I also love the tool belt necklace, its amazing how you managed to make hammers and spanners like stylish and chic and lastly the chain maille bracelet, I’m not usually a fan of gold but it makes me think of the Crusades and their chain maille amour which is extra cool. Good luck with your application. I’m sure they will love your stuff as much as everyone else seems to.

  27. Showa59

    Tool Belt necklace

    Beaded woven

    Crystal earrings

Wow, this morning I was brooding over if I wanted to seriously put effort into becoming a published poet (yes?). Now I see your awesome jewelry and I’m like “OHHHH I WANNA MAKE JEWELRY!”

    God Bless with your application!

  28. Hannah

    the mj bracelet rocks..

  29. SaraS

    1. Tool belt necklace – awesome and sharp!
    2. MJ charm bracelet (where’s the 90210 original cast version???)
    3. The bead woven rings are classic – gorgeous work!

Nice mix of commercial appeal and cheekiness!!

  30. stayday

I think the Chain maille bracelet is a goer as too is the tool belt necklace

  31. Josephine

oh lady, i’m feeling for you!

my favourite is the toolbelt necklace. i like it because it’s quirky and unexpected, and looks the most ‘designer-ly’ to me.

number two is the chain maille bracelet, mostly just cause i like heavy metal jewellery

last, but not least is the bead woven rings – they are so intricate and beautiful

you are so talented lady, you’ll have no troubles being accepted i’m sure!

  32. Gem

they’re all gorgeous, you are very talented! my favourites are the tool belt necklace – it’s quirky but still very pretty and wearable; the shell and tortoiseshell wire wrapped bracelet – because it’s really pretty; and the michael jackson charm bracelet – because it’s different, it’s kitsch, and it’s michael jackson :)

  33. Gervy

    (1) MJ charm bracelet, because it is unique and evocative of a special time in all our lives. BUT is it too late for you to craft some beaded fingerless gloves to go with?
    (2) Tool necklace – cos boys might like it as well as girls?
    (3) Chandelier earrings – everyone likes a chandelier.

  34. Justme

Chain maille bracelet – simple yet gorgeous with so much depth and detail
Tool belt necklace – Fun, quirky, classy
Shell and tortoiseshell wire wrapped charm bracelet – does it make a chinkly chinkly sound? It looks like it would and I love bracelets with sound

Also love the MJ charm bracelet, thinks it such a cool idea. Am so impressed with all your work, do you sell it anywhere?

  35. Ruin

    1. tool necklace – it’s fun and imaginative, it shows you are not stuck by classic trends.
    2. beaded rings – other than being pretty freakin cool they are also fiddly to make so show you have patience, an eye for detail and a basic understanding of geometry.
    3. Cloisonné and crystal earrings – they’re a bit more classic and simple, and their difference from the other pieces complements the whole ensemble.

I think it’s important that your choose 3 different items, so not all earrings, or bracelets – and keep in mind that bracelets and necklaces usually have the same structure, which is why I didn’t chose one of each.

    goodluck love!

  36. Hannah Cheeto

MJ charm bracelet, shell and tortoiseshell wire wrapped charm bracelet, and tool belt necklace (oh my god. That is awesome). But I kind of love all of it! Good luck on the application.

  37. marian

hallo darling, your stuff is gorge, simply ab fab!
    my faves are:
1.Chain maile braclet-as it looks really luxe
2.Tool belt necklace- as its so unique with the fun tool details
    3. woven bead rings- as they are chunky and different.
good luck with the application hun bun!
