Another little break…

Okay. Here’s my completed bridesmaid tasks all ticked off the night before the wedding…

* I’ve had a manicure, pedicure, bikini wax and leg wax

* I’ve plucked my eyebrows, exfoliated and moisturized both my face and body

* I’ve done a hair treatment and drowned it in leave in conditioner

* The bridesmaids dresses are ironed and hanging up

* The wedding jewellery is made

* I have our evening bags all packed

* The wedding present is wrapped and ready to go

* The bride is calm

* I’ve had a cup of tea and now I’m ready for bed

Wish me luck ladies! I’ll have photos for you all next week!

Eye Bag town – Daily Style

I know that I’m looking down a lot these days but I literally have under eye bags that are enveloping my face. It’s a feat of human biology, let me tell you. Also, I’m hairy as a mofo. I’m saving up my hairy bits for when I get waxed tomorrow. My legs are inexcusable.

* Dress from Itrip Iskip

* Bolero (Is this a bolero?) from Cowboys and Angels (RIP your beautiful sartorial soul. Lady Smaggle misses you.)

* Boots from Payless

I’m sans accessories at the moment because I had to pack them away when the Smaggles were selling our house. Did you know that people just STEAL things when you have an open house?  How rude! So I shoved all my jewels in a big fat trunk. We’ve since sold our house (!!!) and now we have to move in like two weeks so I figure it’s a bit pointless unpacking them all and re-packing. And then packing again when I (hopefully) move to Melbourne. Is it any wonder I have face sucking eye bags right now…

This afternoon I’m off shopping for a wedding present and then I’m spending the afternoon making secret things before rehearsal.

Looks I’m loving… October 2008.

Audrey Tautou-esque cuteness. Thick lush eyelashes, a light, feathery jacket and a shiny pixie cut. From the Facehunter.

Shiny silver tights and deep, deep blue. Mushroom pink, pointy kitten heels. From Dressed up like a lady.

Funky, choppy hair, layered singlets and little white boots with buttons. Rock star sunnies optional. From Fashion Fake.

Sleek black, killer heels and a shaggy jacket to match your shaggy hair. From Fashion Toast.

A side sweeping fringe, cropped pants, fur collar and leather gloves. Grey suede wedge boots. Swoon. From the Glamourai.

Exceptional fringed pants with clear, healthy skin and shiny, shiny hair. From Karla’s Closet.

Slasher tee, shiny leggings, blunt fringe and a whip of red lippy. From Kingdom of Style.

A Chinese collar, platforms, a wrist full of silver and a messy ponytail. From Sea of Shoes.

I have damn season envy. I want to wear scarves and tights and jackets. Winter is a much more versatile season for someone who layers such as I do.

Still busy – Daily Style

Today was a tiny bit less crazy at work so I managed to sneak out and take a quick photo.

  • Pants from Valley Girl
  • Top from DFO in Canberra
  • Shoes from Sportsgirl
  • Bangle from Bollywood store

Here are a few things that are tickling my fancy this week…

  • A document wallet that’s a ‘doculope’. Don’t you think that sounds like a character on Sesame Street?
  • Watching almost all of Degrassi High on the weekend and saying things to Mr Smaggle like ‘What’s all this aboot? When are the basketball try-oots? You’re a broomhead!’
  • Spending a stupid amount of time with my delightful fellow bridesmaid and bridesmate. Much wine and laughter has been shared in the past few weeks and it makes me all warm and gushy inside.
  • One of Mr Smaggle’s friends has dubbed us ‘The Most Useful Couple’ in his life. Excellent. Not ‘The Coolest Couple’ or the ‘The Hottest Couple’. No, no. We got ‘useful’. We are so cutting edge.
  • The fact people STILL read Smaggle even though it’s in a mega stage of sucking right now. Oh and all the people who continue to comment despite the fact that I’m not replying. I love you guys. And I am reading your comments and crying myself to sleep every night because I don’t have time to reply. Really. I am.

Is anything lovely and fabulous happening in your life at the moment? Tell me delightful things please!

Big Break – Daily Style

I know I keep disappearing for days on end with out notice. Work has been ridiculous, rehearsals have been relentless and I’ve spent the whole weekend doing bridesmaids business which has left little time for blogging. This is what I wore yesterday while the bride and I stalked the wedding locations and watched this week’s brides getting married there and had a lovely relaxing lunch in the sun while chatting about the ceremony. I spent the rest of the weekend making earrings for the bridesmaids, writing a speech for the reception and trying to not freak out that the wedding is in less than a week! Eek!

* Dress from Cowboys and Angels

* Shoes from Big W

* Obi belt thrifted

* Fortune teller necklace gift from friends

* Dinosaur necklace gift from friends

How’s your weekend been chicken? Tell me all your goss!

Cold snap – Daily Style

Today was pretty quiet at work which was awesome because I got to chill out for the first time in months. Although (and this is one hell of an over share so I do apologise) I have the dreaded monthlies and I’m one of those poor sods who gets TERRIBLE cramps. As in it feels like I’m slowly and painfully giving birth to giant wombats for 7 days every month so I spent much of the morning with my head planted firmly on my desk whimpering like a child. A couple of painkillers and an awesome coffee later, I’m feeling like sunshine and roses again. As I damn well should…

* Jeans from Jag

* Singlet from Supre

* Lace top from Material Pleasures (second hand store)

* Obi belt from DFO in Melbourne

* Leather jacket from Target

* Vivienne Westwood for Melissa mary-janes

* Ceramic ring from Mr Smaggle

* Earrings from Mr Smaggle

 I’m whipping out the boyfriend jewellery again because my man’s away in London. It’s truly bizarre the way I do that. These earrings are a bit spesh though. Back in the pre-Facebook days Mr Smaggle and I very geekily courted each other through MSN. Embarrassment much. Anyway I was bidding on these earrings on Ebay and he distracted me with some anecdote about how tough he looked on his motorbike and I lost them to another bidder. He then found the exact same pair and won them and then gave them to me. This was before we were even together. He’s a smooth operator that Mr Smaggle.

Pretty clicky things…

I’ve been so slack with reading other blogs recently but here are a few things that have caught my eye this week…

Chiclooks shows us some awesome illustration by Laura Laine.

Penelope’s gorgeous post on Audrey Hpeburn is definately worth the click to Cocoa.

Dressed up like a lady. Adorable. Always.

Queen Michelle’s DIY Slasher t-shirt is doing my head in. I love Kingdom of Style.

Susie Bubble layers like a bitch. Obviously.

Imelda shows us some… erm… interesting men’s shoes.

The Glamourai is my new favourite blog.

Happy clicking my little chickens!

A quick update – Daily Style

Just a quick one today because I’m too bloody busy! Sorry for not replying to comments I’m just out of control but please know that I do read them and smile everyday!

* T-shirt from Red Bubble

* Skirt from Valley Girl

* Opaques from Big W

* Shoes from Nine West

* Cardigan from Supre

Argh! I’m so busy! Here’s a quick update on my life… My play is awesome, work is out of control, I have a million bridesmaids duties before the big day next week, I still haven’t done my tax return, I got an interview for NMIT (!!!), I’m applying for a job within my current job and it’s stressing me out, Mr Smaggle is in London and I’m missing him.

This afternoon I’m off to the gym and then rehearsal.

Someone shoot me please.

Lady loves…

* Cruising around on a sunny Saturday and calling into vote (it’s compulsory in Australia) and witnessing a gorgeous bride and all her bridesmaids running into vote on the way to the wedding. It was awesome. It was extra special because I shared the moment with my fellow bridesmaid!

* New shoes.

* My play. The director is fabulous, the cast is divine and my character is awesome. I’m having a ball.

* Fresh, thick yogurt with sweet mangoes eaten on the balcony in the morning sunshine.

* Ridiculously expensive rose lip gloss.

* Drinking wine and eating chocolate with my girls.

* Ladies who wear flowers in their hair.

* Catching couples having cheeky pashes in public. Extra points if they throw a bum squeeze in there.

* Little kids who wave at you from passing cars and who squeal in delight when you wave back.

* Fresh sheets, clean hair and crisp pajamas on a warm summer night.

* Big colourful salads.

Sigh!

Life is just a little bit pleasant isn’t it?

How to dress for a job interview…

Photo

My last ‘Why don’t you…‘ post was quite popular so I thought I might make it a regular feature.

Why don’t you…

* Wear a crisp white dinner shirt with French cuffs and fasten them with spectacular and masculine cufflinks? And add a splash of red lippy?

* Drape yourself in head-to-toe black in marvelous shapes and textures and finish the look with brilliant silver stilettos? Chopsticks in your hair?

* Carry your documents in a vintage leather notebook cover?

* File your nails into short squares and paint them nude pink? Perhaps paint your pinkies with glitter so they sparkle when you gesture with your hands?

* Pluck your eyebrows into sweeping arches to make sure you look very, very alert?

* Abandon your usual heady scent and spritz yourself with some fresh rose oil?

* Wear a lace blouse? With a stiff black pants suit?

* Slather your hands with cream and wear cotton gloves to bed? For silky smoothness when you shake hands?

* Polish your shoes? And see that they compliment your handbag?

In loving memory of Diana Vreeland
