Captain Apricot and the Best Arm Warmers in the World…
A wee little while ago I received an email from a super gorgeous gal who has an Etsy store called Captain Apricot and she sells hand made armwarmers. She very kindly sent me a pair to road test and I have to say I’m literally in love. These babies have been with me since the day I received them. Last week I thought that I lost them and I was literally devastated. They are so warm and they scrunch beautifully around the wrist when worn. It makes SUCH a difference that they are made from wool. My arms have never been toastier! And I can easily hold a glass of Merlot without it slipping through my fingers. Absolute genius design.

Am I first?
Well look, there’s nothing I like more than a vintage button a la ‘Long Length Black Crochet Armwarmers With Vintage Buttons’.
And what do I like about Winter?
I get up in the morning and look for the first blanket of frost over the field; I drive to work enjoying the swirling fog in the valleys; and then I walk into the toasty warm office and have my first hot cup of tea for the day, with a buttery, vegemite muffin.

My favourite thing about winter (in Canberra) is driving to work in the morning, seeing how glassy and still the water in the lake is, and getting the shock stepping out of my overwarmed car and into the deceivingly cold winter air!
Also, my favourites are the long length black crochet armwarmers with vintage buttons. These would be SO handy in my crazy cold office!
My favorite part about winter is stealing lunch trays from the cafeteria on campus and going sledding in the hollow – and also sharing that feeling of overwhelming camaraderie when I see someone else with a bright red tray peeking out from the bottom of their winter coat hurrying out of the building and towards the snow. ;D
(And I’d also have to say that the long length black crochet armwarmers with vintage buttons are my favorite! They’re gorgeous!)

my favourite thing about winter is going to restaurants and sitting outside under those big gas heater thingies. I love the contrast of the frosty cold air with the too hot on my face radiating from the heater. All whilst drinking a hot chocolate (italian style), of course!
My favourite thing about winter is hot lattes, croissants, warm rugs, puppy / kitty / boyfriend cuddles and a great book.

I am reacquainting myself with Canberra winter after not living in it the past two years. Odd how you spend 20 years in a climate, yet forget about it so quickly.
Anyway. When I started thinking about it, I had lots of favourite things about winter, like the thrill of flying down snow-covered slopes. But the most favourite is when you get all rugged up and go for a brisk walk with the dog, the feeling after it of having a warm body, flushed cheeks and a cold tip of your nose. You just feel so alive!
And (like everyone else it seems) my favourite arm warmers are also the long black ones with the buttons.
I love love love the grey blue and dark pink armwarmers!
The best thing about winter is finding a spot after it lays down about 6 inches of snow that hasn’t been disturbed and flopping down on your back in the middle of it. I just lay there and gaze up at the dark sky watching tiny dots of white fall all around me until I start to feel the snow saturating my backside. I then escape to the warmth of my home, which welcomes me with the aroma of choc. chip pumpkin bread and coffee. Pour a cup, grab a slice and curl up with an antique quilt on the sofa with my hubby!
The Grey Blue & Dark Pink ones are awesome.
My favourite thing about winter is snuggling naked in bed with husband under copious amounts of blankets and doonas. Soooooo comfy.

I like cold winter mornings, with frost on the grass. The crunch that you hear when you walk really fast.
Hot steaming soup with crusty italian bread, sharing it with friends, its always a blast!
Eating choccy while curled up watching my favourite shows, my warm minkee blanket rocks my cold toes!
Listening to the rain drop down on the roof,
And snuggling right into my sweetheart its proof,
That winter is apon us for 3 whole long months!

It’s funny that you ask that… Since it’s summer over here I was just missing being able to wear a cute outfit, then add a cute cardigan, cute tights, cute boots, a cute scarf (or 2 or 3) and just be cozy, not dying from accessory induced heatstroke.
So I guess one of my favorite parts of winter is the layers.

I am all about the Grey Vintage Style Crochet Armwarmers- so cute!
My favorite part of winter is probably “the unraveling” at the end of the day. I step into my apartment, and take off my coat, boots, jeans, leggings, two pair of socks, extra sweater, scarf, hat, and gloves, and embrace the heat in my utilities-included apartment. After which I dive under my quilt, put some wine & mulling spices on the stove, and take a nap.
I’m after the grey vintage ones. They would totally rock with my grey vintage coat.
I love lots of things about winter and I HATE the way that people moan and groan about it. My very number one favourite thing about winter is getting outside and enjoying any lovely low-angled sun that may be available (we’re getting plenty this year) aaand . . . NOT GETTING SUNBURNT.
For me, winter is a really good excuse to wear really big boots. I live on a steep hill, and who can blame me for wearing thick, tread-safe, faux-fur-covered boots to work so I don’t fall on my butt?
Okay, so maybe it’s just that I want to be comfortable (which is my real favorite thing about winter – thick, soft things to cuddle up in like the long length black crochet arm warmers) and winter lets me do that without much fuss. We had a huge storm in Seattle last year, and I got to wear soft sweaters and thick tights for weeks!

I was walking home the other night, in the freezing cold air, and I remembered my favourite thing: just that. Walking home, the air crisp on your cheeks, the cold pricking tears from your eyes, the clear air cooling your breath… and then going inside and feeling all that cold melting away.
Yes, I am a wanker. And I like the grey vintage-style armwarmers.

my favorite thing about winter is when you have had an awful day, and you walk home in the rain and get soaked to the skin….
then you come home, jump in a bubble bath, eat a bowl of chicken soup and cuddle up on the couch with your lover and a Marilyn Monroe movie.

My favourite things about winter is slipping into delicious flannelette sheets, running while lying down to warm them up and then having battles with my husband while I try to warm my freezing toes and hands on his toasty warm flesh. Nothing warms you up like wrestling while helpless with laughter!

My favourite part of winter is winter fashion. I loving layering in snuggly wool tights, boots and coats. I like having matching hats and scarves. I like being able to wear tights with socks over top. I love finding creative ways to wear my summer items during winter.

My Favorite pair are the “long length navy crochet arm warmers with vintage buttons” – I think I could rock these here on chilly Canberra mornings as I totter off to work.
I love everything about winter, but my absolute favorite thing would have to be seeing my breath when I exhale. There is something so frivilous and special about it; it takes me right back to being a kid and seeing frost for the first time and thinking that it was snow. Every winter I look forward to being able to see the clouds of breath when I exhale, just so I can feel happy and silly all at once.

Winter where I live must be a little bit different from the winter you’re currently having.
I live in the Rural South of the United States and it can get really, REALLY cold. I’m cold-natured to begin with, so I have to bundle up like an eskimo. But that gives me the oppurtunity to layer all my cute striped long sleeve shirts, break out my super cute heavy coat and beg all my friends to make me brightly colored scarves.
But I have to say that my favorite thing about winter is the air. The South is notorious for being very humid, but in the winter the humidity is gone, leaving the air so crisp and clean. If feels like you can see for miles and miles and miles! It’s like you can see little frost fairies whirling around, shaking the dead trees or even kissing your exposed cheeks. And when it snows on very special occasions, if you stand in the sun and watch the snow fall it looks like glitter cascading from the sky.
That and I think “Winter” is one of the most beautiful names ever. I’m going to name my daughter that… Whenever I have one. >.>;

Storms. I love winter for its wild storms. I am drawn to stand out in the rain and listen to the wind roar. I don’t know why, I just can’t help myself. The streets are usually deserted and it seems you are all alone, but I do look a little crazy!

My favourite thing about winter is that the majority of it is my uni holidays, which means that I get to come back home and enjoy endless shinanigans with my family/friends/boyfriend. All the whilest doing the occasional shift at my local Kmart folding towels and chatting up cowboys.

There are too many things I like about winter
But my most favourite one, weird though it sounds, has to be the sound sleeping that winter induces. There’s just something about the cold and snuggling into a giant, heavy pile of blankets that makes for good sleep. As I am one of those people who get very paranoid about my much-needed beauty sleep, this is a very good thing indeed. (Though this has been mentioned before), having a boyfriend next to you as a convenient hot water bottle isn’t bad either. 
Winter cooking!
Having the oven pumping, pots boiling on the stove, the kitchen full of steam and delicious smells…stews and pies and curries and casseroles and soups and more, and HOT desserts, like crumbles and puddings. Eating a beautiful hot meal and feeling wonderful and warmed through, washing it down with a glass of wine and feeling even cosier.
As opposed to summer: peeling your sweaty self off the couch to organise a few carrots and a piece of lettuce from the barely coping fridge, moving slowly to avoid further sweat. Upon eating you feel heavy and hotter than ever, alcohol equals instant headache and doing the washing up is like a half-hour in hell.
Oh and I love the black warmers without buttons!
