* I’m totally deaf. I misunderstand most things that people say and whenever I enter the loungeroom and Roomy Smaggle is watching TV she automatically turns up the volume.

* Speaking of Roomy Smaggle, we’re currently obsessed with watching Scrubs every night and we realised, much to our delight that we are inter-racial best friends. Just like Turk and JD. We’ve started calling each other ‘Mocha Bear’ and ‘Vanilla Bear’. She’s Japanese so ‘Brown Bear’ seemed a little inappropriate.

* Being a jeweller hurts. I was filing a tiny gem setting last week and kept hacking off strips of my finger skin so I asked my teacher if I was holding it wrong. I wasn’t. It’s just an assumption that you file off your own skin. It’s interesting trying to re-learn behaviours, like not doing things that hurt.

* It’s really difficult to find a true iced coffee. Not one of those ice cream, whipped cream, chocolate sauce jobs that cost more than dinner, I’m talking about a shot of coffee on iced milk. Even if I request the iced coffee with out the side of cellulite I still get charged for the artery clogging crap. Get on board Canberra cafes.

* The Wii Fit is nicer to you if you do exactly what it says.

* I was convinced for the first time in 5 years to buy a diary other than a Moleskine simply because the display at Borders was so untidy and disorganised. The diary I bought is by Modena, looks almost exactly like a Moleskine, was almost exactly the same price and is made from bonded leather. Plus I was able to choose the correct diary to suit my needs because the display was colour coded and divided into different diary styles and sizes. Virg-asm.

* Boys will not eat vegetables unless girls cut them up for them.

* Women will balk at the thought of spending more than $100 on basic flats or sneakers that are bound to get almost daily use but won’t think twice about spending the same amount on a ridiculous pair of heels that may only see the light of day once or twice. For five minutes before you take them off and carry them home.

What about you pie face? Discover anything that you might like to share?

That’s so true about the flats! I am loath to spend that much on flats shoes.. that said I wont pay over 100 dollars on badly made cardboard flats, well made leather ones with rubber soles (like the ones I am currently wearing at work and wear every day) I will pay the money for 🙂

I am deaf too. I noticed earlier this year that I always have to ask people to repeat parts of what they said, and if there’s competing noise (like a bus roaring past) I can’t hear a thing. I miss eavesdropping!

    Ouch at filing off fingers!

I don’t like buying things from disorganised displays either.
    Must. resist. temptation. to. tidy.

if you leave a bottle of nail polish remover out on your balcony in 30 degree heat there will be no nail polish remover in the bottle when you come home.

Speaking of spending…it’s easier to sell a $250 dress than a $50 necklace. People assume they won’t wear the dress every day but the necklace has to be analyzed carefully, like, “What if it doesn’t match EVERYTHING I HAVE?!” Not fun.

A wee tip that I’ve found sometimes works: try asking for a cafe latte made with cold milk, rather than an iced coffee; often you’ll get what you want, for a reasonable price.

Miss Addict – I’m over it. All that is comfortable for me is rubber thongs. Yuck.

Niki – Me too! I’m getting really good at lip reading though.

Piglet – I used to work in a newsagent so I cannot help but tidy the rows of chocolates when I buy my magazines…

Fifi – Yes. I have done that before.

WendyB – I know! It’s so annoying. Many more jewellery rants between us I think!

J – Awesome! Thanks for that!
