2009 – What did you do?

2009 – What did you do?

Mr Smaggle and I have spontaneously decided to head to the coast tonight instead of tomorrow so my New Year’s Eve post is coming to you a day earlier… and is sharing with my daily outfit post.

* Dress from Tree of Life

* Shoes from Nine West

* Bangle from Equip

* Men’s watch from Fossil

* Earrings by Bouvier from Bijoux

* Wheelie bin necklace from Roomy Smaggle

Today I bought a blender, spent some quality time with the Wii Fit and had a few cheeky gins on the balcony with my girl Na. Pleasant day.

As this is my last post for 2009 lets say goodbye to the past year and acknowledge the things we did, the lessons we learned and how they changed us…

In 2009 I…

* Moved away from my home city.

* Left the nest (the Smaggle house) for (technically) the first time.

* Drove on a long distance trip all by myself.

* Experienced the first year of my tw0 year long distance relationship. And we kicked its arse.

* Celebrated three years with my gorgeous man.

* Was featured in four magazines. February 2009 Cosmopolitan, December 2009 Cleo, January 2010 Cleo and August Bust

* Overtook a tram driving in Melbourne.

* Bought furniture.

* Completed a Diploma in Engineering in Jewellery Design. Advanced Diploma coming up in 2010.

* Taught teenaged rapists in a jail.

* Lived with someone who is not related to me or in a relationship with me. And loved it.

* Paid rent for a full year without going broke/crying/borrowing money.

* Networked my butt off and got permanent part time work teaching special kids for 2010.

* Learned to love wine.

* Was sadder and happier than I have ever been in my life.

* Discovered that all of my problems can be solved with karaoke, dumplings and vodka with apple juice.

* Realised that, given a space to call my own, I’m quite the homemaker.

What about you chicken pie? What did you do this year?

As nostalgic and teary as I seem about 2009… I am so freaking glad it’s over. The horrible parts were ghastly. The amazing parts were incredible but scarcer than I would have liked and the rest of it was pretty ordinary and often frustrating.

See you 2009! Happy New Year angels! Can’t wait to see you back here in 2010.

Love Lady Smaggle

    bianca – I want to be a cheerleader.

    Dundle – Cool! Very strange way to find the blog but yay! Oh and as for the glasses… I’m a jeweller and I wear them as safety glasses. SO fashion crisis averted. Thanks for stopping by! x

    This year I…

    Got a real job, paid off my credit card entirely, racked up a brand new debt, remained single the whole 12 months, made new friends, cooked a turkey AND a goose, made decisions that were both good and bad, went to the races and failed to see what the fuss was about, put on 10 kilos (FAIL), moved house, regretted it, got over it, decided that I want to change things in my life in the new year, read A LOT of Smaggle.

    Xx
