Be your best self.

Winter is the best season.

Winter is the best season.

winter

I hate summer. It’s a ridiculous season. Everyone talks shite about how much they love summer and when it gets here everyone complains about hot it is, how they can’t sleep, they can’t exercise, their air conditioning is broken… blah, blah, freakin’, blah.

Unlike the rest of the world, I have a functioning memory and I hate summer all year round. Aside from the fact that my brain shuts down when the temperature gets above 30 degress I also find it really difficult to dress well in summer. It’s all too… bare for me. I love a good layering experience and summer kills it.

This picture from the Sartorialist makes me crave winter. Clean, clear skin, thick wool, scarves, gloves… I truly am a baby of the cold.

Who agrees?

P.S A friend of Mr Smaggle’s was doing some modelling in Europe and was telling me about it over cappuccinos at the lake. He was all ‘The photographer was quite famous I think… do you know Scott Shuman? The Sartorialist…?’

My reply? ‘Yes. Yes, I do know Scott Shuman…’*head quietly explodes*

    I. LOVE. WINTER.
So much easier to dress and you don’t end up sweating all over your nice clothes because your too hot to even blink!

Winter is the superior season, anyone with any fashion sense knows that!

Agreed!! I did enjoy last summer though – cos I spent it in Europe.

LOVE winter! This is one of the first years I’ve been enjoying the warm weather, although in NZ it doesn’t get THAT warm really. But I’m still a winter girl at heart, most definitely.

I PASSIONATELY agree!! Fall, Winter, Spring – oh so happy. Life happens! Fashion happens, exercise happens happily, and like you brilliantly pointed out – clear skin happens!

I actually prefer the weather in the summer, but then I’m British and we don’t really get summers. However, I much prefer dressing up in the winter. So much more choice 🙂

Yes, winter, yes! Layers upon layers! Scarves, gloves, hats! It is winter here in Colorado and it’s wonderful.

well if you love winter…come up to my hometown in alaska. it’s winter for practically the whole year!

  12. Winter is helpful for some of the styles that I like, but I hate slipping and sliding on icy sidewalks and having to wear snowboots for 3 months of the year. I prefer fall, but I’ll take summer over winter any day.

I’m a ‘transition’ season girl. I love a good Autumn – cool breezes, gorgeous colours – and adore Spring.

Summer bites – I can’t knit nearly as much. The horror!

Emily – I KNOW! It’s like shut up! I get it!

Kate – I spent last Aussie summer in New Zealand and it was perfect for me!

Genevieve – I know… I always feel so dirty and freckly and aged in summer.

Rachel – Well that’s undersandable because your winters are ridiculous. It’s a different story in Australia where it barely gets below zero on the coldest of winter nights.

Stephanie – That sounds like heaven.

La historiadora – In Australia you have to seek out snow. There aren’t any cities that get regular snow… just a few towns and snow villages near ski resorts. Snow is like a treat here!

Emma – My perfect weather is cardigan weather. I like it at around 20 degrees…

I’m so glad you agree about Winter being the best, sometimes I feel like the only one. People talk about getting gloomy as the skies turn grey…sunshine makes me depressed.

I don’t look good in sleeveless anything, it’s too hot for jackets/coats (my favourite article of clothing), everybody smells more, and I can’t get a good night sleep worth a damn.

You can always put on more clothing, you can’t take your skin off if it feels like you’re goingt to sweat to death.

I love summer, but I enjoy dressing for winter more.

I love this picture. It is how I would like to evolve to later in my life.
I hate the 95+ degree weather of the summer. But I will say I hate the cold weather when I’m indoors. I enjoy fall/winter, because living in a tropical climate our winters don’t really go below 45 degrees during the day.
