The end of 2010 – What did you do?

In 2010 I…

* Became a qualified jeweller.

* Was published in Cleo magazine for the third time.

* Mastered the art of truffle making.

* Won a student grant.

* Survived a two year, long distance relationship and totally kicked its arse.

* Saw Whitney Houston live.

* Was a bridesmaid for my best friend of 17 years.

* Gave blood for the first time.

* Moved. Twice.

* Learned to like ginger beer. A lot.

* Got the writing gig of a life time over at Lustable.

* Saw my first double feature film.

* Became an aunty.

* Found the perfect hairdresser.

* Celebrated four incredible years with my man.

* Watched every single episode of Gilmore Girls from start to finish.

* Attended Melbourne Fashion Festival.

* Travelled from Melbourne to Canberra and back… fourteen times.

It’s been a long and exhausting year and I want to thank all of you for reading and contributing to Smaggle. I adore my community and you guys are truly the reason that I keep doing this.

Have a safe and happy new year, do things that make you happy and surround yourself with gorgeous people. Set the tone for a fabulous 2011!

Yes to Gilmore Girls.. possibly more than once. They seem to be on constant rotation.
Moved out of a unit with someone I was originally good friends with..
Decided to sign on to complete my Masters in 2011
Fell head over heels and then broke up, all within 6 months.
Blogged. Sometimes.

In 2010:

I learnt how to do cartwheels – I am 30!;

I learnt how to roll my ‘rrrrr’s';

I booked a huge overseas trip ALL BY MYSELF! (Usually someone else – Dad, boyfriend does it for me…)

I finally achieved my Bachelor of Education;

I survived the Cantebury earthquake, and began to repair my house myself (the shakes continue…);

I went blonde. Then back to brunette;

I started a new teaching job, then when I realised that my heart wasn’t singing, I persued a job in my ultimate school and now my heart sings louder than ever;

I went to every single concert and gig I fancied, despite the price – life is just too short!;

And tonight, I will be sobder for the 1st New Years in I don’t know how long, and will pick up my sister, her husband and gorgeous baby girl from their OE, and tomorrow we will celebrate ‘Christmas’ in my ‘NOT-falling-down’ front room..

In 2010 I was introduced to your fabulous blog, which has provided me with hours of entertainment and joy. I also moved overseas, got re-hooked on Grey’s Anatomy, and got very close to running 6km in 30 minutes (before I fell in a heap with my running).

In 2010 I had six jobs at once (editor, arts publicist, invigilator, tutor, publicist for a different company, contract public servant), quit four of them, attended a conference, published a scholarly paper, acted in one play and directed another, celebrated my first ever one-year anniversary, moved into a love-nest, moved out of the love-nest due to black mold, lived with my beau’s mother, learned to use a sewing machine, applied unsuccessfully for about ten billion jobs, taught Australian literature, bought more books than I read, went to TINA for the first time, opened a fixed-term deposit, completed an American tax return, and got bitten by a spider.
