Can I get a consensus? How do you feel about vibrators?

Can I get a consensus? How do you feel about vibrators?
Carly Jacobs

I was watching Sex and The City recently, specifically the Rabbit episode (the one where Charlotte buys a vibrator) and to be honest, ever since I first saw that episode I’ve been a little bit curious about the saucier side of bedroom antics. I had a discussion with a group of girlfriends (not mentioning any names) and I was almost the only one out of a group of around ten women who had never used a vibrator or any other kind of stimulator. Apparently this is quite unusual. It’s not that I haven’t wanted to it’s just that every time I have had the occasional wander through a sex store just to see what all the fuss was about, it takes zero to thirty seconds for my retinas to be irreversably damaged by the sight of sex toys that look more like instruments of torture. Obviously no judgement on those who use them but for sexually vanilla girls like me it’s just all a bit much.

However, recently I’ve been in contact with the lovely ladies at Savvi who have the most beautiful and classy online ‘pleasure store’ that is aimed at women. It’s gorgeous. They sell ‘gadgets’ and ‘accessories’ all of which are tastefully photographed with helpful and non-intimidating descriptions. They offered to send me something to trial and at first I was a little nervous but then I thought… why the hell not? A few days later a very subtle box arrived in the post and inside was a Lelo Nea.  A small, subtley curved, Swedish designed masterpiece that is more like a work of art than a sex toy. It was purposefully selected with Mr Smaggle in mind as it’s a non-threatening favourite amongst the male customers purchasing for their girlfriends. It has several different speeds and with its incredibly elegant design it’s very intuitive to use. The whole Lelo range is beautiful. The Lily is like the Nea but with a matte finish and if you want a little something more the Mia is rather gorgeous. Any of the Lelo range would be an indulgent treat but if you really want to spoil yourself you can get the YVA in silver or gold.  That’s a dedication to pleasure if ever I saw one. My Nea came beautifully wrapped and packaged and the whole experience with Savvi was helpful and discreet. Perfect. I’m set for a while with my little Nea but if I ever feel the need to upgrade I wouldn’t hesitate to shop at Savvi. Beautiful service from a beautiful store.

My question to you is… have you ever used a vibrator? Would you use one? Have you, like me, been too intimidated by mainstream sex stores to consider purchasing one? Does anyone have a Lelo? What do you think of it?

And yes, I’ve tried it. I don’t want to overshare but oh my…

Love Smaggle

I have a Lelo Nea. Got it about 18 months ago at a Pash Party (which is a comfortable fun way to look at this kind of stuff without feeling threatened!). Love love love it!!

Rewind about 10 years ago and my ex hubby brought me one as a joke but we ended up using it for abit of fun anyway! It spiced things up 🙂
Ive had a couple since then, my partner now (of 8 years) is away alot with work so it kinda keeps me happy while hes not here. Im open and talk about this sort of thing with my besties and they all have toys too 🙂
Variety is the spice of life 🙂

I’m all about them, whether for solo use or with a guy. In fact one of mine is designed specifically with guys in mind (the feeldoe … I LOVE pulling that out of the drawer and seeing how guys react!). I’ve got a few guy friends who are massively against any sort of toys because they find them threatening and emasculating, and this totally mystifies me because there’s just so much fun to be shared (…or enjoyed solo!) with all the toys out there.

I’m happy to buy in store if I need to, but my last purchase was online and I was really impressed over the attention that went into making it all totally discrete.

I haven’t tried any of the Lelo products but was actually looking at their gold range last week and thinking what a total indulgence they’d be for the wo/man who has everything on Valentine’s Day!

I have had several! I have a couple right now. I mainly bought mine from sex stores! There are tons of good online sites now, but when I was in college, buying in person was easiest. Besides, you get a pack of college girls in a store and it’s HELLA amusing. I’ve also gone to a “pleasure party”. But truly, I prefer stores. You can actually pick up what you’re looking at, see the size without having to pull out your ruler and estimate, and see what kind of quality you’re looking at. I haven’t bought anything really nice like Lelo’s stuff, though. For that, I would probably do it online.

My now husband sent me a rabbit vibrator while we were conducting our long distance relationship from WA to VIC. It was amazing, so amazing in fact that I wore it out!

I didn’t buy another one when I moved over to be with him but have actually been thinking about getting a new one. The Savvi ones look amazing….

I have had vibrators but now have a we-vibe… It’s a vibrator that u use while having sex, it’s called a we-vibe because it’s for both u and your partner! Absolutely love it! I bought it in a sex shop for around $160! They have a website, I can’t remember the address but if u google it, it comes up! It explains how they work 🙂

To be honest I’ve never considered anything like this! While I am unusually lucky to have a very healthy sex life and a man better than any gadget can ever be, I don’t really see the point in using one of these. I don’t really see getting off as my first priority, maybe because I take it for granted, but to me sex is about being close, not about how many orgasms I can have. I honestly don’t think that I could get off using a toy because it wouldn’t mean anything, it would be like going out and fucking some random (no offense meant here, just don’t know how else to explain it lol).

As for my girlfriends, none of them use things like this or are interested (and these are girls in their late teens and 20s I’m talking about) they also say that they don’t see the point in these empty orgasms and would rather do things with their boyfriends because it would mean something.
Anyway, hope my comment doesn’t offend, keep your interesting questions coming!
