LMFF City Chic Sidewalk Show

LMFF City Chic Sidewalk Show
Carly Jacobs

It would be impossible for me to cover every show that is on during fashion week especially the events that are open to the public but I really wanted to cover the City Chic Sidewalk show because I think it’s fantastic that a plus size store was showing this year and I hope they continue to show in the future.

Here are some looks that I loved.

I really love the way that City Chic has such a youthful vibe. There are quite a few plus size stores in Australia but they seem to think that everyone over the size of 14 is also over the age of 40. I have heard that there are a few complaints about City Chic making their clothes too short or making the clothes look too revealing but these models look fab. I kind of want to bite a few of them.

What about you? What do you think of plus size fashion stores showing at fashion week? Are you a curvy gal? Do you shop at City Chic? What do you think of their clothes?

I have to say that much of what we get in City Chic over here is not my personal style – but OMG, that last dress is perfect! It is great to have options, especially when you’re at the large end of chain store clothing.

I think it’s great that they have a fashionable outlook, rather than old-lady-sack 🙂

I think it’s great that we’re seeing a greater diversity in Fashion Week now. I mean, I completely agree that lables like City Chic and Cotton On should be kept off the main runways, but giving them the option of utalising the street runways? I think that is sheer genius.

I would like to see some more diversity in the male models used in shows though. Looking over the snaps of the Menswear shows on Lucas Dawson’s site, they all tend to be the same sort of guy, and most are guys that, chubby as I am, I’d rather not look like. I want to see men modeling clothes, not emaciated model boys.

I think it’s really great that City Chic are making larger sized fashion chic, because up until pretty recently you’re right, it has looked like crap only a poorly dressed spinster would wear.

Lord knows I’m a flat-chested midget (not at all a curvy gal) but I love these outfits and the models are SMOKIN’ hot!

I always think City Chic looks so tacky… I’m a size 14 girl and I would not wear skirts that short or shiny legggings. I realise some women would, but I’m opposed to the idea that you can just make clothes bigger and they’ll suit anyone. You have to realise that women like us have different needs because we’re not stick thin…

I know this post is almost a month old now but I was shocked to read and hear some of the feedback about City Chic’s show. I would wear (and do wear) City Chic dresses – but I am also up for a bit of recon whenever I buy clothes. Most of their halter neck dresses I turn into strapless or straight straps, I take in the waist (big bust small waist) and I dont ever wear head to toe of any brand.

City Chic had a great pinup collection last year and some of their new stock (black dress pictured!) will be making it’s way into my wardrobe this year.
