Smaggle in Sunday Life. And Cleo Magazine. Twice.
Carly Jacobs

I’ve been mentioned in a  few publications recently and I finally got around to scanning them today. Here’s a little fashion shoot that my man and I did in February 2011.

We are totally aware that Ben sounds like a knob jockey and I sound like a Stepford wife, but as with most print media, there was quite a bit of creative paraphrasing going on. ‘Stop violating my design sense!‘ has become a favourite family phrase. Oh and he’s also not 25. Ah, look at the photo… he’s all ‘Get me my shirts… bitch.‘ Good times.

I was also interviewed by the gorgeous Rachel Hills for her bridesmaid feature in Sunday Life Magazine in June 2011. I released a podcast about How to Be The Perfect Bridesmaid and she was picking my brains about appropriate bridal etiquette.

I also helped out with an article in the July 2011 Cleo magazine. It’s all about how to make time for yourself. I KNEW being a self-indulgent Virgo would pay off eventually.

I’m done bragging now.

Okaaaaaaay… this has been sufficiently awkward.

Hey look! A banana!

LOL It’s going to make me sound like a total stalker but I totally remember you publishing ages ago about the age gap between you and Mr Smaggle/Ben… and that it wasn’t two years! Still, all publicity is good publicity, right??

No, you’re not a stalker at all! I pointed that out – he’s 24! But was 23 at the time of print.

Re: ‘Stop violating my design sense!’ I work in publishing, specifically art journals and we get ‘stop grammatically repressing me’ comments all the time from our authors (we try to point out it;s not repression, its just kind of nice if there ‘art’ makes sense, that usually doesn’t go down too well… Ahh the joys 🙂

That photo of you and Ben is lovely! And he’s very dapper… if only I can convince my husband
that he should take some sort of pride in his appearance… le sigh.

Funny thing is, he doesn’t actually look like that. He’s far more rugged in real life. They like rearranged the bones in his face or something.

    What an excellent purple shirt.

Please do! It’s rather Australian so I’d love to see it go viral in the states. x

You go, girl 🙂 All of the articles look lovely, but “Making Time for Me” wins the best title.

If you two have kids together, they’re going to be able to grow the best white man’s afro ever!!!

I’m totally loving those shoes in the top article too btw – where are they from??

We often joke about that! Shoes from Whittner baby.

    Nice!!

Mr Smaggle does look dashing and I am loving the white dress on you too. Thank you so much for reminding me of your podcast because I was just asked to be a bridesmaid for my childhood friend’s wedding in November and it’s my first time! (Indian weddings don’t generally do the bridesmaid thing)

Will check it out. Read the “Making time for me'” article too and your advice is spot-on! I should really do that esp with the chores lol

Yay!! Congrats on the articles 😀

I’m glad you guys know that one of you needs to change, couple who willingly go out dressed like tortured twins are creepy.
My husband is kind of the man-child type when it comes to clothes, not because he’s immature or a dickhead, but because he’s lazy. Sometimes I wish he had stronger opinions about what I wear, but maybe if he did, I would thik otherwise.

      *think not thik

Ok, so you are soooo famous. And you soooooo need to do a ‘perfect bridesmaid’ post for HerCanberra, because I am just about to be a bridesmaid for about the sixth time but it’s been a long time between drinks. I kinda thought once you were 38 and had two kids your bridesmaid days were over…so now I’ve forgotten all the right things to do. Help, Smaggle, heeeellllp!
