How to be a Fashion Commentator – with The Circle’s Anthea O’Connor.
Carly Jacobs

* Be friendly to everyone you work with because the coffee guy might be your boss one day.

* Don’t be too cocky when you’re young. Be humble about what you say you can do and be extraordinary in what you actually do.

* Don’t apply for a job that you aren’t trained for especially in a competitive industry like fashion. Do the training, then apply for the job. There are exceptions to this rule but they are few and far between.

* Be honest, at all times.

* Keep friendly with your important contacts. They won’t be impressed if you only contact them when you want something.

* Say yes. Never be too busy to help.

* Never think you’re too good for a menial job. If the work needs doing, do it.

* Keep your eyes and ears open at all times. You never know when someone might leak a job opening at your dream publication.

* Don’t be too pushy. You don’t want to be remembered for being annoying.
