Daily Style: What I Wore For An Important Meeting.by Carly Jacobs
I recently published my 2013 Smaggle reader statistics and got a little wee wrap on the knuckles for not being more consistent with my outfit shots. I really want you guys to get more out of my outfit posts than simply throwing your eyeballs at a dress I’m wearing. So I’m going to start including outfit breakdowns with the secret ingredients that make the whole look work.
Anchor Your Dominant Colour
I never wear black shoes without anchoring the starkness somewhere else on my outfit with another splash of black. With out the obi belt, I look like a nurse in this outfit. The belt ties it all in together.
Find Your Ideal Skirt Length
My legs are at their slimmest point below my knees, so pencil skirts are particularly flattering for me... and almost everyone else for that matter.
Is Your Hair An Accessory?
Mine certainly is. On weekends I don’t give a crap and I’ll wear earrings, bangles and necklaces and let all the elements get into a shit fight for attention. However being a curly-haired lass, I find it more difficult than my sleeker haired sisters to look polished. I simply ditch my accessories for more professional occasions and it makes me look slightly less like I crawled out from under a rock at a music festival in 1973.
This outfit was worn for a client meeting, an afternoon of web series writing and for watching several episodes of Nathan For You. If you haven’t watched it, do. Hilarious.
What’s your fail safe important meeting outfit? Any tips to share?
Oh and the outfit break downs… helpful? Let me know!
Have a beautiful weekend!
