The 5 Top Everyday Beauty Steps That You Might Be Accidentally Skipping
Carly Jacobs

With so many beauty tips out there it can be a bit daunting to figure out what you should do to make yourself look not just presentable but decent enough for you to face the world! So I thought I’d make it easier for everyone by sharing my Top 5 Beauty Tips, tips that are absolutely essential and easy to follow.

Well Groomed Eyebrows Are A Must

The eyes might be the window to your soul but in my books, the eyebrows helps to frame your face. When your eyebrows have been correctly plucked, waxed and shaped, you can get away with not wearing makeup most of the time. Where your eyebrows start and end can determine the shape of your nose and even help open up your eyes making it look larger and brighter.  My one piece of advice is to get it shaped by a professional first and then you can maintain it yourself by doing the weekly tweezing of any stray hairs.

Double Cleansing

Do you notice that whenever you go to a beauty salon to get a facial, they normally cleanse your face TWICE? Well, it’s best to put this into practice at home too, especially if you wear makeup during the day. The first cleanse is to take off all your makeup, and this is usually done either by using cleansing oil or cleansing wipes. This is then followed by your usual cleanser, be it cream, gel or foam. This is to help clean off any remaining residue and impurities to make sure that you’ve got your skin squeaky clean, ready for you to apply your serums, creams and potions before bed. This also helps the serums absorb better onto your clean skin.

Exfoliate

Another important step to your beauty skin regime is exfoliating your skin. I cannot stress enough the importance of this step. Usually done once or twice a week, depending on your skin type, exfoliation helps to remove dead skin cells, and thus renewing your skin and helping it absorb the day cream better too.

Never Forget The Neck & Chest Area

Put your hands up if you only ever cleanse your face and forget all about your neck and upper chest area?  Don’t worry, you’re not alone. The area around your neck and right down to your upper chest area is often exposed to the elements and it’s pretty thin too…like the skin on your face. So remember to cleanse that area too! You also need to extend the application of any creams, serums and potions right down to those areas. I mean can you imagine having soft skin on your face but wrinkly neck and chest area??

Strong Eyes or Lips, Never Both

Unless you’re trying to channel RuPaul, then I’d suggest choosing either one or the other. If you’re doing strong smoky eye, then keep your lips neutral with a lip colour that’s preferably your lip colour but one better. That means, going one shade above your lip colour. Wanting to wear that bold lipstick shade? Then tone down the eyes by simply wearing a neutral shade and lining your eyes with eyeliner. Let your lips do the “talking” so to speak. You don’t want the eyes and the lips to be competing for attention.

I hope those five tips I’ve shared have somehow helped you out on your day-to-day beauty regime. Just remember – eyebrows, clean skin, your neck and chest area and when it comes to makeup, focus on either your eyes or lips.
