The Beauty Blogger’s Top 5 Make Up Bag Essentials.

Being a beauty blogger means that I have a rather extensive beauty stash, and I’m always being distracted by new launches and exciting products. There are some staple beauty items that I think every woman needs in her stash, and these are a few of mine!

The Beauty Blogger’s Top 5 Make Up Bag Essentials.

Good skincare is a must, with that ‘good canvas’ cliché holding true for all of us. My skin can be quite problematic so La Roche Posay Effaclar Duo is an absolute lifesaver. I use it as a serum all over my face before I apply my moisturiser, and it works a treat to clear up blemishes and general crappy skin. If you suffer from dry skin, perhaps your ‘good skin staple’ is a nice nourishing moisturiser like Aveeno Positively Radiant Intensive Night Cream, but whatever your skin concern is it is important to have a great product to target it!

Another beauty staple that I don’t think a woman should be without is a wearable eyeshadow palette! The Urban Decay Naked palette is a great lazy neutral lover’s dream, but stores like Inglot let you create your own palette with any shades you like, making it easy to get ready when you’re half asleep on a Monday morning. If you aren’t interested in spending that much money on eyeshadows, Chi Chi have some great palettes (including a nice Naked palette dupe!) and are available at Target and Myer so it should be easy to get your hands on something nice for around $20.

An important tool to have in your beauty arsenal is definitely good mascara! I tend to prefer cheaper mascara brands as it hurts to throw out Chanel mascaras regularly, and at the moment my very favourite tube is my Covergirl Clump Crusher Mascara. I love that you can load it up without it clumping, making it easy to use for daily use but great to build up for darker eye looks.

The fourth necessity is definitely a ‘signature scent’! Mine happens to be Guerlain’s Champs Elysees, which makes me feel strong and powerful (pretty good for a mere bottle of juice, right?!) A good look around the Myer fragrance hall is always a nice way to test the latest fragrance releases, and it can help you find your scent. I always have a bottle of Guerlain on the go among my always expanding fragrance wardrobe, and I think it is a really integral part of my beauty routine.

The fifth and final beauty product that I think is all-important is a pretty blush! Whether it is peach, pink or a nice rosy neutral, a pretty blush is a bit of somethin’ somethin’ that can brighten up not only your face, but your mood! I confess that I am obsessed with blush pans (you should see my blush drawer, it is a thing of beauty!) but the one I’ve shared with you is MAC Mineralize blush in Gentle, which is my colour of choice at the moment.

Now that I’ve run you through my top 5 beauty staples, I’d love to hear yours in the comments below!

What beauty staples do you have in your stash right now?

I’m currently overseas with dodgy internet connection so I’ve asked a few of my favourite bloggers to contribute while I’m away until the 14th October. Emma is the editor of Emma Bovary Beauty. You can get more fabulous beauty tips by following her on twitter.

Oh adult acne does suck! Did you have it in high school too?

Not more than a typical teenager pimply amount. Luckily what I have now is mostly confined to my jawline and neck and not spotty all over my face (maybe it doesn’t count as true adult acne)… Grateful for the little things!

I love Effaclar Duo. It’s seriously changed my skin. Also properly cleansing the skin. I can’t live without it! I have also recently bought Dr Hauschka oil and it makes my skin less oily. So crazy oil + oily skin = less oil!

Will have to try out that palette. I’m all about palettes being a travel blogger.

My new staple is DHC’s Deep Cleansing Oil. It removes makeup using an olive oil base so my skin is always soft and smooth after using this product. Washes off very nice?

I use only Younique cosmetics..I was allergic to all the toxins in regular over-the-counter products so I wore NOTHING for 30 years! Europe bans 130O chemicals in cosmetics..the US only 13! Not good news..all women need to read all the ingredients in their cosmetics..look them up and then clean out those toxic items in their makeup regime.
