9 Things I’m Loving Right Now

I always love hearing about what other people are into so I’ve popped together a little post about the things I’m loving right now in case there’s something there that floats your boat. Make sure you share your favourite things too in the comments, you naughty little sausage.

1. Gilmore Girls on Netflix – I actually gasped out loud when this popped up in my suggestions last week. That show gave me so many unrealistic expectations about what it was like to be a teenager and now it shall give me unrealistic expectations about what it’s like to be a mother. Bless you Netflix. I love you.

2. Dermalogica Daily Microfoliant – This stuff is the bomb. I got sent a sample of this, used it for a week and then promptly went out and bought a grown-up sized bottle because I loved it so much. It’s made from rice and it’s a powdery like substance that you mix with water to make a paste. It makes my skin SO silky and firm – I’m totally in love. Also I love interactive beauty prods. Makes me feel like a scientist.

3. All Saints – I try not to spend too much time looking at the All Saints site because it’s just too expensive and pretty. But if you want to hate your life a little bit today, by all means go and have a gander at a whole bunch of stuff that you can’t afford.

4. Once The Musical – I hadn’t heard anything at all about Once The Musical but I got invited to the opening night and my mate and I went along with no expectations what so ever. It was spectacular. It’s really funny but when you see a production that’s so wonderful, you don’t have anything to say about it because you can’t really describe perfection and you forget the details almost immediately in the joy of the moment. All I can really remember is enjoying every damn second and the male lead gave me one hell of a lady boner. If you’re in Melbourne, go see it. It’s very special.

5. Fitzroy Beer Garden on Gerturde St – I discovered this place a few months ago and it’s rad. They have an amazing beer garden and they’re right around the corner from my house. Something tells me I’m going to be spending many summer afternoons here. I love discovering a new local watering hole.

6. Muppets Most Wanted – Mr Smaggle surprised me one night with this movie and it was thoroughly enjoyable. Ricky Gervais was awesome (very David Brent), Tina Fey was hilarious and the music by Bret McKenzie was genius as always. Highly recommended.

7. La Mav Vitamin E Oil – I got sent this a week ago just as I ran out of evening primrose oil and I really love it. I think evening primrose might be a bit too rich for my skin but the vitamin E oil has been going down a treat. This, mixed with the Dermalogica Microfoliant has meant a very good skin month for Smags. Except when I got my little pre-menstrual pimple crop on my chin but that doesn’t count. Cyanide couldn’t stop my monthly chin friends. Bastards.

8. Damon Albarn’s Everyday Robots – I’m a total music dag (seriously my play list consists mostly of Michael Jackson and several different recordings of Les Mis) but Mr Smags has been playing this album recently and I really, really like it. My favourite song is Mr Tembo. It’s just so jaunty. I’m also totally stoked that I like music that is cool. The last new song I liked was Ke$ha’s Timber. I have a complicated relationship with music but I feel like dear Damon is leading me in a good direction.

9. Cj_hendry – One of the most amazing Instagram accounts around. She’s an awesome illustrator who does all of her art with pens. Just breath taking.

This month, my favourite things are Being Human ( a UK tv series about a ghost, a vampire and a warewolf who live in a share house), Sportsgirl’s Gotham City nail polish ( a metallic gunmetal grey) and Nick Cave and the Bad Seeds. Clearly I’m embracing my darker side for Halloween.

That TV series sounds awesome, I’m totally looking that up. I’ve also recently got into Nick Cave. I actually used to work with a wife of a Bad Seed!

Shite yeah! And no one needs GG on demand. It’s dangerous man.

  4. Caz 9 years ago

Oh man! Since GG popped up on netflix I’ve been binge-watching like there’s no tomorrow. Seriously I’m almost done season 2. Add in the fact it’s autumn and the rain just set in, cozy evenings with a zillion hours of tv is perfect.

I recently started re-watching Gilmore Girls (I’m a huge fan of background noise and TV on DVD is one of my go-tos). Loving it! Although it definitely loses it’s way in the later serieses, boo. I definitely need to get on the Netflix bandwagon!

I’m in very early territory. Dean and Rory just broke up because he said he loved her and she got scared. Bitch. ????

      • Tahlia Meredith 9 years ago

Yep. Silly Rory! I’m at the Yale years – Logan’s my favourite 🙂

Gilmore Girls is still one of my most fave TV shows! I own all the seasons on DVD!
Hmm, what am I loving? Living in Melbourne, I’ve been here a week and I’m still so excited. It will take me awhile to get used to this weather though. Figuring out after a week, how to open the windows in this rental property, I was feeling quite claustrophobic.

No way! Are you living here now? Amazing! You’ll have to come for a drink next time us Melbs bloggers get together! 🙂

      • Natalie 9 years ago

Yes! I moved 2 weeks ago, I am sooo in love with it here! There is so much more blogging opportunities here too, already had a meeting today! I look forward to meeting even more bloggers!

I loved the Gilmore Girls when it was on air but rewatched it and hated it. I can’t stand the way everyone constantly says what a nice person Rory is but her behaviour constantly contradicts it. I’ve just started rewatching Dawson’s Creek and am finding the same about Dawson Leary. Joey Potter is awesome though.

I am seriously into the song Money’s too tight to mention by simply red at the moment. I love dancing about and trying to hit the notes. Cheers me up a lot because money really is too tight to mention and singing about it makes it a bit funny.
