Top 9 Glamping Sites in Australia

ave you ever been glamping? It’s like fancy camping but usually with proper beds and if you’re really lucky (or super wealthy) you can get room service and massages in your luxury open air tent, quirky hut or re-vamped vintage camper van.

I’ve been meaning to give glamping a go for years and Mr Smaggle and I are looking for an excuse for a getaway so I did some research and came up with the top 9 glamping sites  in Australia that we really want to visit. Just be warned… glamping isn’t exactly a cost-effective way to travel but it looks bloody awesome!

When I go on a holiday here I’ll wear sexy khaki shorts and make Mr Smaggle wash my hair in the stream like in Out of Africa.

These gorgeous stone villas are located near the Grampians in Victoria and they’re simply begging to have ancient style mead consumed in them. Can anyone say  Medieval Themed Hens Night???

I truly believe that everyone should sleep in a tipi at least once in their life. I’m yet to cross it off my bucket list but it’s definitely on there.

I actually want to run a health and lifestyle retreat here where we’ll do yoga in the mornings, drink wine at night, eat lots of salads and go hiking. Thoughts?

I took my boys ‘glamping’ in January this year, it was my concession to their desperation to go camping. Husband and I had ‘glamping’ experience in an African safari tent and our 2 boys pitched their tent near by and everybody was happy! It was on the south coast of NSW and was fantastic. Great view, lovely ensuite and so private. We still talk about going back.

That sounds amazing! Link??? I’ve been camping before but only when other people organised it… I’m a bit nervous to organise it myself I feel like I’d forget something really important. That’s why glamping appeals to me! 🙂

There is a new place on the South coast that looks lovely and it is $250 a night which is pretty reasonable for glamping, Tanja Lagoon Camp. If you run your health retreat I would definitely come. A retreat with red wine is my kind of thing.

Oh I’m all inspired now! I think wellness camps should be balanced… perhaps a wellness Bali retreat?

I don’t know if it counts as glamping but I stayed in a gypsy caravan in the Netherlands this year. It was a dream come true 🙂

I’ve never had any interest in camping, but seeing this post makes me want to come into a bunch of money (of course) and participate in a bunch of these ideas you have. Especially the Health and Lifestyle retreat idea.

Yes please to the Smaggle Retreat! I’d be there in a flash!
I’ve never been much of a camper, we didn’t do it as kids and now I tend to only camp at Meredith & Golden Plains. I did once stay in a yurt in Inner Mongolia but there was definitely nothing glamourous about that.

  6. Camping is not for me, but glamping has my name all over it! I really want to go here http://www.salsalis.com.au/accommodation/tents and swim with the whale sharks.
