How Will You Make 2015 Beautiful?

I

don’t really like the idea of not making New Year’s resolutions because I just can’t bear to waste that clean slate of a new year. It’s the ultimate brand new notebook of life and I can’t wait to just scribble all over it.

Resolutions like ‘lose a million kilos‘ and ‘save 70 bajillion dollars’ are a bit useless so I always make sure to keep my resolutions practical, achievable and little bit enjoyable. Here are my resolutions for a banging 2015!

Back myself

This year I’m burning my safety net – I’ve been working for other people the whole time I’ve been growing my own business so this is the year I’m focussing on my own stuff. It’s about time.

Sort the shit out of my finances

I’m not too bad at my finances but now that I’m a business owner I really need to wrap my head around the finances of my business. This is the year people.

beautiful woman

Rest more

No more working until midnight in 2015. I’m setting boundaries for my naughty self.

Create more

As they say, a true lady never sits idle. I’m going to spend as little time as possible on the computer and spend more time creating. More output, less input.

Take a cliche beach holiday with a pool and cocktails

I have literally never done this and it’s been on my list every single year. I will drink a cocktail at a swim up bar this year. I WILL!!!

What about you? What are your new resolutions? Any grand plans for 2015?

I much prefer the term “goals” rather than resolutions and the keyword is definitely achievable. This year, I want to battle the bulge, drink more water, spend less time on the computer, sleep more (as in go to bed earlier,) eat less (not no) sugar and take a road trip. That should keep me out of mischief for a while!

I always have ‘battle the bulge’ but I’ve been pretty consistent over the last ten years so it’s more continuing with that for me.

Yep I prefer goals too, not resolutions. My goals this year are to save enough money to start our house build, a career change into social media, and to get myself into a better routine so that I’m not on the computer so much x Happy New Year Carly xx

Oh brilliant – they’re excellent goals! I think spending time away from the computer is always a good idea. πŸ™‚

  3. Very realistic. You can kick ass with these goals.

The beach holiday rocks. I craved one a few years ago as all my holidays where exploring new places with not much laying around or visiting family. So we took off to Fiji for 10 nights, it took 2 days to get the hang of pool-side life by the third I was in love with it!

Oh thank you! I hope so! Maybe that’s my problem… I need to give a few days to soak in with the holiday thing.

I love the pool plan, I have never done that either. I feel like I am in a bit of a holding pattern with 18 months still to go in my wine course. I must come up with some dreams to follow that will fit within that though:)

Oh wine course? That sounds brilliant! I’d love to know more about wine but I’m like ‘in my glass’ wine. πŸ™‚

Excellent and admirable goals, lovely. On the self-improvement front, I just want to remind myself every day to be content and to be more patient with my ancient, anxiety-ridden, deaf, half-blind dog. Gasp! You will think “how could you impatient with the poor old darling” – but he is soo slow, more so it seems, when I am in a hurry to leave for work. On the holiday front, I would love to come to Melbourne (never been) and try to work it so I meet up with a NZ girlfriend whom I haven’t seen for 34 years. We met in Europe and hung out in London when we were both working there for a year. Nearly managed to pull it off in 2013, but life got in the way for her. Hoping for a successful attempt this year.

Oh wow you should come to Melbourne! It’s excellent, I love it so much. Even when I’m holiday in other beautiful places I just really miss it! They’re great goals – especially catching up with your friend. I love that one! x

No grand plans, very much a “steady as she goes” approach… just going to try for incremental improvements in my health. And maybe get the wolfhound walking nicely on his lead!

Oh wow good luck with that! I saw a lady walking her wolf hound this week and he was SUCH a challenge! I’m sure you can get there though! x

I’m making fewer resolutions this year, because last year I got a bit overwhelmed. One thing I really want to do this year is get my driver’s license. I have also pledged to be more honest with myself. I can sometimes fall into the trap of telling myself the things that I want to hear. Y’know: “Sure, this guy says he doesn’t want a relationship but maybe if you hang out with him he’ll realise how awesome you are and change his mind”, “Yes, it’s fine to eat cake every day of the week. You’ve earned it, and you never gain weight!” and “No, you don’t have to worry about spending $100 on DVDs, because you used EFTPOS, which isn’t like real money anyway!” I need to be firmer with myself and not let my inner child get away with so much shit.

Ah! I love those ones! I’m like that with food too… I’m like ‘You’ve worked so hard all week you can totally have 4 glasses of wine.’ More like ‘NOPE!’.

i’m glad to have found you and your blog! … you are a gorgeous bit of work!
no resolutions for me, … no promises! … just allow and be and each year I hope for more wisdom and a step closer to evolving more as a human being!
I am accepting what is and working within the realms of my limitations! … I can be profound!
it’s the nature of this evolving soul!
I wish you and everyone a beautiful 2015! … cheers to you smags! love m:)X

I’m trying to re-align my working hours… earlier to bed and earlier to rise. Started this morning at 5.40 and needed a nap at 10am! Baby steps!

I find myself just consuming all the internet crap so my main goal is to focus on output of awesomeness! πŸ™‚

Those are all excellent! So far all I have is read more, but I will sit and come up with some more proper ones this week. That pool bar sounds mighty enticing πŸ™‚

I’ve got read more as one of my goals too! I’m doing well – I read three books last week! I’m currently reading one about Ted Bundy!

To help with your beach holiday I recommend http://hideaway.avistahotelsandresorts.com/ in Phuket, Thailand. They have three pools that you can swim up to a bar and request a drink in πŸ™‚ We stayed there for a last minute honeymoon and got a very good deal so keep an eye out for offers.

Oh brilliant! That looks absolutely perfect! We’ll be a doing a lot of camping this year I suspect (Yay!) but a cliche beach holiday will be made a priority.

I’m going to take the next few weeks to sort out some real goals – I continually see the success of people who do this in an organised fashion and at 45, I reckon it’s time to attempt a grown up year! Learning to crotchet will definitely be one though πŸ˜‰

Oh I’m doing that too! I keep seeing these amazing projects that Pip from Meet Me at Mike’s does so I’m totally going to do that. I need an activity to keep my hands busy at night to stop myself from defaulting to the computer! x

  14. This week is the week I’m going to sit down and give some serious thought to my goals for 2015. I’m then going to write them in the front of my new diary. First goal? Use said diary for the ENTIRE year…! x

My resolution every year has always been to be able to drive. This year I am making this a goal, with steps. I seriously need to be able to drive, especially in Canberra.
