I've done up styles in the 60's and forever, with hairpieces etc … like I know how to get that hair up and to stay in place! … but I did not know that! … blown away hun! hand claps! m:)X-

I found out the actual anatomy of a bobby pin on Pinterest of all places! That changed my hair life, for sure. And yes, I’m guilty of the teeth thing so will stop doing this STAT! x

Ive been putting mine upside down too! Another great hair hack i found on youtube the other day is that when you are pinning curls into an updo…put the bobby pin on the curl first, about 3/4 of the way down and the pin into into the updo. You then get the curly bit coming out at the end…genius! And another one is to spray the metal end of a tail comb with hairspray and use it to smooth down flyaways around the hairline or an updo.

I too discovered this secret bobby pin fact a couple of years ago from youtube. There is also a way to put them in so they don’t show – hard to explain, but you pick up a bit of hair with the tip of the pin, then flip it over end for end and slide it in from the top, downwards. Takes a bit of practice, but you can put them in so they hold, but are also invisible. Have a rummage around youtube for a tutorial. xx

I knew that the teeth were supposed to be on the bottom, but I’ve always opened them before putting them in my hair. I actually just pinned my hair back so I could test the other trick (so skeptical!) and it’s totally true! How did I not know this?! π

I didn’t think it would work the first time I heard about it but it was actually amazing! You do need to use more bobby pins but it is more effective.

Hmmm…I’m dubious about this pin hack because all decorative bobby pins have their ‘decorative bits’ on the squiggly side hmmm… I do know that you can hold a twist in your hair with just one bobby pin by putting your hair up in a twisted bun, zigzagging the bobby pin through your hair, flipping it over on itself then pushing it back through π

Not hair related, but the sneaky, but super useful trick I learnt just the other day is that there are little flaps that you can push in on the ends of your cling wrap / aluminium foil / baking paper boxes. This stops the roll from popping out when you’re using it. Magic!
