5 Awesome Winter Date Ideas

5 Awesome Winter Date Ideas
Carly Jacobs
I

get a bit stir crazy in winter. It’s just so cold and all I want to do is snuggle on the couch under a blanket but that is very lazy and plus there are some super rad things going in winter that I’ll totally miss out on if I insist on prioritising my ugg-boots all the time.

winter date ideas

A friend of mine has just dating a new guy and they keep doing all these really cute things and I got super jello and decided to write a list of things I’d love to do this winter. Here’s my list of 5 awesome winter date ideas… feel free to issue me an invitation to any and all of them.

Go on a ghost tour

Most cities have some kind of ghost tour and they’re an absolute hoot to go on. They’re the perfect winter activity because the coldness makes it so much creepier! It’s also the perfect excuse for a bit of snuggling. Cheeky.

Eat Korean BBQ

I adore Korean BBQ restaurants but you wouldn’t catch me anywhere near one in summer because it’s like a sauna in those places. No matter how cold it is outside, you’ll be super warm and toasty inside. Also interactive food is the best and perfect for new relationship dates.

Go to trivia night at your local pub

Pubs usually have open fires and delicious hearty meals on offer so why not head to your local for a sneaky mid-week date? It’ll keep you warm and toasty and it will get you out of the house for an awesome evening full of laughs.

Bundle up, grab a takeaway coffee and go for a walk

There are few things as romantic as holding hands on a frosty day, sipping a warm beverage and strolling through a beautiful park. Make sure you’re all rugged up with scarves and gloves so you don’t get cold!

Visit a museum or art gallery

I know this sounds totally stupid but I always kind of forget that art galleries and museums exist unless there’s something I particularly want to see or someone else I know just went there. I’m rarely, if ever disappointed when I visit an art gallery and it’s the perfect place to wander around in hand, talking about art and life. Sigh!

What’s your favourite winter date? Do you even go on dates regularly?

Oh thank you! I always worry about infiltrating people’s inboxes so I’m so glad you like it!

Me and the hubster met when we were living in London. On our third date, I took him on a walking tour by the Thames, through the park and we ended up at the National Gallery. I found out later that he’s not really a culture vulture or a big walker, but it was so romantic! It’s still our best date to date! I like to go to the Blue Mountains, rug up and go on a lovely long bushwalk – it’s kind of like nature’s own art gallery – and you can finish up with a cosy night in by the fire!

Oh I went to the Blue Mountains just a few weekends ago and it was brilliant! Loved it. Any day that ends with a fire and wine is fine by me!

Or since it’s coming up to the end of June – go to the Bondi ice-skating risk and make an ass out of both yourselves simultaneously 😀

I like the idea of going to the pub for trivia night! Might give it a go this winter.

On another note the museum idea is great for early dates too ( i went on my first date to the museum with my now partner of 12 years) Its great because if you have any awkward silences theres sooooo much to talk about 🙂

2 friends of mine hooked up about 2 years ago and their first date was at a museum! It’s such a perfect date.

  5. We usually have 4 nights away from the kids a year – and we indulge big time. We’ve only had one so far this year and I can tell, we’re not quite ‘ourselves’. Couples NEED to have time away from life and distractions so they can remember why they fell in love! x

That’s such a lovely reminder! Mr Smags and I do that from our jobs – we’re online 24/7 so we go camping whenever we can and totally switch off. It’s brilliant.

  6. I’d so go for a walk with you any day of the season. x

  7. My husband and I actually went on our first date in over three years last night!! Three Years!! I also had not been out of the house after dark for at least 4 months! Hopefully it won’t be another three years until the next one. 😉

Oh boy. We need to go on more dates. I dream of more dates! I’d even settle for a middle of the week day time date to the movies! I miss dates. SO MUCH. We keep using our baby sitting favours on big stuff like weddings and goodness knows what for OTHER people. Which is fun, but we desperately need to have couple time out of the house!! Not to mention our parents are passionate about travel…bye bye babysitting for oh, ALL OF WINTER EVERY YEAR! *gulp*
