Things That Make Me Go Yay

Things That Make Me Go Yay

little while ago I started keeping a gratitude journal and it’s done wonders to improve my daily mood. I think as we get older it’s harder to hang on to optimism so we need to work at it a little bit. So this week I decided to list some things that are making me go ‘yay!’ and a few ‘boo!’ things too for balance…

things that make me go yay

Crocheting – I can not get enough of it and I’ve become a total post office brat when I go to pick up my parcels and none of them contain my precious balls of baby alpaca yarn. I’ve just taken four orders for man beanies and I’m about to tackle my first full-sized blanket. I need to start a crochet blog. For reals.

Going to the gym – My bestie and I joined our local gym and I’m loving it. We both work from home so we pop out at lunch time for the 45 minute speed classes. They’re awesome. My butt is getting all firm and high again. Loving it.

Almost Dry July – I set myself a rule that I’m only allowed to drink with people I don’t normally drink with in July which means I’ve had like four G&Ts the whole month plus a few glasses of wine with a mate last night. It’s an excellent way to cut back on habitual drinking but not miss out on having a few drinks with a mate who’s visiting from out of town.

Organising weddings – I’m a maid of honour and a bridesmaid in the next few months and I’m stoked. I adore planning other people’s weddings. Give me a giant stack of envelopes to stick labels on and a glass of sav blanc and I’m a happy camper.

Being invited to speak at events – I’ve been invited to speak at three awesome events in the next few months, mainly about blogging but I generally manage to squeeze in a few poo jokes anytime I speak in public.

Envato – Melbourne July 2015

Problogger – Gold Coast August 2015

Eat Drink Blog – Canberra October 2015

Winter – I love hot chocolate, blankets, heaters, snuggling, coats, red wine, gloves and beanies. Also sleeping next to Mr Smaggle in summer is highly unpleasant because he is made of lava but it’s delicious in winter.

And just for balance here are a few things that make me go boo…

Working on the weekends – I am so incredibly blessed to be able to do what I love for a living and I’m even more blessed that I have lots of work coming in at the moment but when you’re shooting food photography for 16 hours straight on a Sunday it can make you wonder why you do it. So flashy. Blurgh.

Getting packages that aren’t yarn – I’m so crochet obsessed right now that if I get a package and it’s not yarn, I will pout all the way home.

  1. I’m on holiday in the mother country and it’s summer. I’m spending quality time with the fam, especially the dog. He’s my new best friend. I’ve been shopping. A lot because it’s like cardio and theapy all rolled into one. Oh, and adult colouring in. It looks so pretty and it’s keeping me zen! So many reasons to be happy – oh, and I’ll add seeing you at PB to the list!

Oh good plan! I didn’t get sick last week either! Bonus. I think it’s because I’ve been taking shite load of vitamins.

Isn’t it wonderful? I’m a teeny bit slack and sometimes skip a day or too but I do it most days and it makes such a huge difference.

That’s what I love about it too! Although I’m so impatient for my overseas orders of yarn to arrive. I’m such a child.
