ou guys know the drill on these posts – if you love them, you have to participate in them. I tell you 3 things Iโm loving and then you tell me 3 things youโre lovingโฆ so I can copy them and be just like you. Creepy stalker that I am. Here are the three things I’ve totally fallen in love with.
This movie is just about the most perfect thing Iโve seen in years. I was enthralled from start to finish and it left me seriouslyย analysingย the development of AI. It was shot and edited beautifully, the actors were superb and it totally solidified my crush on Domhnall Gleeson. I canโt even really talk about the film yet because Iโm still thinking about it. Do me a favour. Watch it and come back here and tell me what you think.
Reformer pilates
I know Iโm about ten years late to the game on this but I feel about reformer pilates the way other people feel about yoga. Iโve never meshed well with yoga because Iโm naturally very bendy so it never felt like I was really doing much. Reformer pilates is my new chocolate. I love it so much. Iโve found an amazing instructor who teaches the class very slowly and strictly and Iโve never worked my body like this before. I can stretch deeper than Iโve ever stretched in my life and I find it really meditative and relaxing but still a really hardcore workout. Itโs what Iโve been wanting from yoga but never got.
I have weird shaped feet from dancing as a kid. I have high arches and I get blisters very easily, particularly when Iโm breaking in new shoes. These blister pads are the absolute bomb. I love wearing heels and I can last all night in them as long as they arenโt giving me blisters. I never, ever go to a wedding without a few of these in my clutch bag. Theyโve bought me a couple of extra hours on the dance floor on more than one occasion. Theyโre expensive so Iโd save them for dire circumstances but theyโre worth every penny of the relief they provide.

What about you? What things are you loving sick right now?

By the way you should totally sign up for theย Smaggle newsletterย and likeย Smags on Facebook.ย I donโt want to pressure you but I heard all the cool kids are doing it. Just saying.

Loved Ex Machina! Such strong performances from the three leads.
1. Travel memoir. Highly recommend Alice Steinbech’s Without Reservations and Educating Alice, about her solo travels when she was 50+
2. Budgeting. Taking out my spending money for the week and keeping it in an envelope, and leaving my cards at home.
3. Wine tours!
-
Author
Oh wine tours! I love them! Haven’t been on one in ages!
-
I’ll go on a wine tour with you!

1) The X-Files Files podcast, with Kumail Nanjiani. This one is a combo with re-watching all the episodes on Netflix as I follow the podcast. Takes me right back to high school, in a good way.
2) Fall issues of every magazine.
3) Closet clean-out followed by donation pick-up. Also actually remembering to put all bags and boxes out on the front porch by 8:00 am and seeing them come by at 8:10. Fabulous feeling.-
Who picks up donations? I thought they would only pick up large items. I have bags and boxes of clothes but can’t get them to the shop. Were you inspired by Konmari or just spring?
-
Author
Oh yes! Who do you get to pick up your donations? I want them to come to my house!

Author
Oh and X-files pod cast sounds amazing. I didn’t watch X files when I was kid because I was too scared but I started watching it as a grown up and I love it!

1. My jaffle maker. It’s been years since we’ve had a jaffle maker or made a jaffle for that matter, but the humble jaffle has made a comeback in our kitchen. 2. Chicken soup. It kills germs that antibiotics can’t. Especially when it’s packed with veggies and big, fat matzo balls! (It’s my auntie’s not so secret recipe on the blog.) 3. The movie 50:50 – it’s not new and I’ve watched it a gazillion times, but every time I see it, I fall in love with it all over again. Have an ace week! x

Author
Have you made apple pie jaffles? With canned apple? I don’t have a jaffle maker but I’m bloody tempted to get one for that!

1. Espresso coffee machine. Nothing fancy and no pods – just one of those sunbeam crema ones. I was spending $50 on takeaway coffees per week, at least. I bought this one secondhand off gumtree for $50, so very happy with that saving.
2. Living near a beach (Coogee) and a big park (Centennial in Sydney). No excuses to start the day with a walk by the ocean or a cycle through the park.
3. Going gluten free. At first I trialled it for a week and noticed a huge difference – no more bloating and sharper mental clarity. It’s been a month now and It’s insane to think I’ve lived so long under a mental fog.-
Author
I’ve been gluten free (ish) for about ten years because Mr Smaggle is a coeliac and it’s actually awesome. I just don’t think humans were built to eat wheat.

1. Loving a food blog called “Damn Delicious” – lots of fresh healthy recipes. 2. Margaritas – had the first one in my life a couple of weeks ago – I know, how can I be in my 50s and never had one? I foresee lots of limes and lemons in my kitchen this summer (well, more than usual). 3. Scarves. I’ve never felt really comfortable wearing them, but this winter have found great ways to tie them (thanks to you Carly and other kind YouTube ladies who upload tutorials) and can now totally embrace a scarf. Makes me feel a little bit Parisian chic! xx
-
Author
Oh my lord margaritas! I LIVE for margaritas. Although I don’t like salt on the rim. Ew.
-
Yes, I can live without the salt too xx

1. Having a friend who enjoys swearing as much as me.
2. Painting the inside my broom cupboard (that houses the brooms, vaccum cleaner and ironing board) pale mint green and putting gold dots on the wall. It makes me smile every time I open that cupboard.
3. Mixing up some natural style Greek yoghurt, peanut paste, honey and cinnamon and dipping apples into it. I love love love it!-
That cupboard sounds so cute, what a good idea!
-
Love the cupboard idea. I’d be smiling too. Who smiles when they’re about to enter that dreaded space! I’m thinking maybe crazy wallpaper.
-
Author
That is so adorable. I love that idea! I can’t wait until I have a home of my own so I can do that too!

1. Board games! Loving getting a group of friends together to play some strategy games such as Terra Mystica or Dominion or takenoko.
2. Mulled wine – perfect for these cold nights!
3. My sketchers walk – so comfy!-
Author
These are all brilliant. I too love board games and mulled wine.

I am loving –
my nespresso coffee machine
watching Pretty Little Liars with my daughters
spoiling my daughters as one celebrates turning 17 today and the other who will be 20 in 10 days.-
Author
Pretty Little Liars is THE BEST! I love it so much. It’s so crap and so awesome all at the same time.

The lovely Kim from The Land of Zonkt gave me one of those cool blister pads at ProBlogger. Both lifesavers! Speaking of Kim, (1) I’m loving her #anappleadaychallenge. So easy and guiding many worthwhile dietary decisions. (2) Mindful Learning – a great book by Dr Craig Hassed and Dr Richard Chambers (3) Self employment and the fact that I can work a day travelling to and from Melbourne CBD and still do school drop off and pick up #winning (if a bit tiring) X
-
Author
Oh what a great idea! I’m pretty sure I met her at PB! Self employment is the bomb right? It has it’s drawbacks but on the whole, I love it.

I’m finding that the longer I go on the less and less likely I am to think about getting a ‘proper’ job ๐

1. Wondershare Video Editor – making lovely ‘films’ from our family photos, with music.
2. Colouring books for adults!
3. The library – I want to borrow ALL the books. ๐-
Author
I went to the library last week and stocked up on crochet books! Love it so much!

1) Snuggling up on the lounge with my 19 year old son to watch Hot Plate
2) Just started listening to Ministry of Sound Chillout Sessions (I know, I’ve been living under the proverbial rock)
3) Being on a low-carb & low gluten diet.
I feel so much better in myself, have heaps more energy and have lost 14kgs since Feb….
Roll on Spring!!
Am also going to start going ‘screen free at 9pm’ in the next few days…. ๐
(Thanks for the inspiration for that – I have some relaxation music lined up and ready to listen to instead of going to sleep with the TV on)-
Author
Wow! Good on you! I love low-carb low gluten. It’s my basic staple!

-
1. I’m loving colouring in! It’s been awesome!
2. Up cycling – love my new old pieces!
3. The enormous spring clean I’ve just started, uncluttered home, uncluttered mind-
Author
I need to do this but Mr Smaggle is a bit of a hoarder… I might just do it quietly without him noticing!
-
-
Great list! Mine is:
1. New bike! So much fun to have one that works well ๐
2. Spring is coming here in Brisbane. Warming up to 28 tomorrow, loving it.
3. Tea. Always. Particularly enjoying Sencha Green atm.-
Author
I love tea! Mr Smags and I have rioobos tea every single night and we’ve been away for a few weeks so we’ve really been missing it!
-
-
Oh I’m intrigued about that Ex-machina! I’m loving:
1. House of Cards – I’m a late adopter but loving it anyway;
2. Saturdays without extra curricular activities – we’ve taken Term 3 off swimming, footy et al and I am loving myself sick for having a whole day off everything;
3. Inside the O’Briens by Lisa Genova – my latest read and I’m really enjoying it so far.
-
Author
We’ve started House of Cards but it’s very intense so we keep taking breaks from it. Oh I love a good book recommendation!

1 – heavy summer rain storms
2 – gluten free biscuit cake that my mum makes
3 – ice cold cherry coke-
Author
Love heavy summer rain storms… loathe flavoured coke. I’ve never found one I like. I’m a good old fashioned DC gal. ๐

Have to look into watching Ex Machina now.
Things I’m loving?
1. These pants I just learnt about that are yoga pants but look like business pants: https://www.betabrand.com/womens-dress-pant-yoga-pants.html
2. Netflix. Seriously, do I even need to go on?
3. Blogging. My mojo is back, baby!!
-
Author
It’s so good. You have to watch it. And also I’e had Netflix for a few years now… so excited that everyone else is on board. YAY for blogging mojo! ๐
-
Yeah I’ve had it for a few years now too, but I’m still loving it!

1. Colouring in – I bought Secret Garden a few weeks ago & am colouring a picture every chance I get.
2. Journaling – I write 3 things I’m grateful for every night. I’ve got young kids & want to remember more of the funny things they say & do, so I’ve started writing a couple of paragraphs about what’s happened during the day as well.
3. Thick, creamy Greek-style yoghurt with fresh raspberries (while they’re less than $40 a punnet). SOOO good!-
Author
Oh I do that too! I have a mindful app for it.
-
-
I’m loving that 1. My man is home after a looong stint absent with work. 2. This rain. 3. That I’ve spent some money getting my nails done. A rare treat, but I think I’m going to make it a regular one.
-
Author
I always paint my own nails but they’re almost always painted. My mate says you can tell when I’ve lost the plot because my nails aren’t painted!
-
-
I love reading everyone else’s comments on these posts – I’m always furiously writing down things to look in to!
My top three of the month are:
1. Spending some real quality time with some of my best girlfriends
2. Getting back into proper exercise after months of not being well enough
3. Signing up for classes in all kinds of fun things – I’m doing a posie making class next week!-
Author
It’s my favourite thing to do! I love it. And I hear you on the exercise – I was sick and then away so I didn’t go to the gym for like 2 weeks! Went back last night and I’m feeling grand.
-
-
1. Swimming in winter without a wetsuit. Bracing at first but you feel like a deadset legend afterwards.
2. Bootstrap Fashion – dressmaking patterns that you can customise to your measurements. And they’re cheap!
3. Eating dinner at home more often. Have finally convinced the husband that eating out Every. Single. Night. is not ideal on a number of levels.-
Author
Ew I agree! I couldn’t eat out every night, I’d feel gross! We do poached eggs on toast twice a week. It’s our favourite!
-
-
1. Maybelline BB Cream – I’ve never been really into make up, but this BB Cream I’m using is so easy, even I can’t screw it up.
2. The last season of Falling Skies – currently on Fox 8 on foxtel (probably be on netflix soon)
3. Sleep – it’s been a pretty hectic few weeks for me, so I’ve fallen back in love with my sleep this past week-
Author
I love that BB cream! I’ve been using their Dream Wonder foundation and I love it!

Ex-Machina was brilliant, have you seen The Imitation Game? It’s related in a round about kind of way.
1. Being back at Uni after the break, biochemistry is finally starting to jigsaw together
2. Giving up coffee, mostly, still having a baby instant in the morning, but feeling a lot calmer and not having as much dairy
3. Feeling the change in the weather here already, yesterday I left the house in boots, jeans, shirt, cardi, scarf and NO JACKET-
Author
I certainly have seen The Imitation Game. I adore Benedict Cumberbatch. Oh why did you give up coffee? I think about doing that periodically but I only have one (sometimes none!) a day so I don’t really feel that inclined to.
-
I’m partially deaf and as a result I have terrible tinnitus and it’s supposed to help ease the symptoms, my boss is Italian and we have a commercial machine at work, so I was having up to 3 a day, way too much caffeine for me!
-
-
-
Oh I ADORE that movie – seen it twice and could easily watch it again! I’m loving myself sick right now, and it’s been awhile since I have so I’m enjoying it. We’ll see how I feel tomorrow!
-
Author
Oh good on you! That’s brilliant! I just loved that movie. It really stayed with me after I watched it.

Starbucks Java chip iced coffee, ginger and lemon tea…catching up with once upon a time on netflix since they stopped showing on TV here.
