3 Ways To Get Your Shit Together in September

3 Ways To Get Your Shit Together in September

eah… so this is super awkward but it’s September this week. I’m going to do my best impersonation of an old lady and say ‘Where has the year gone???’. But seriously though… where the hell has this year gone?

At the beginning of every month I like to set some goals. Who doesn’t love the start of a new month? It’s like a fresh spongeΒ cake just waiting to be iced or a shiny new notebook covered in cellophane that you can just ripΒ off and dive right into. I also like to look over the previous month to see how I went. I didn’t publicly set any challenges for August but I didn’t do too badly. I travelled a lot and was unwell for a week but I did the best I could. I’m feeling better now so I thought I’d go hardcore for September and really get my butt into hear. Here are 3 health challenges I’m setting myself for September… want to join me?

september challenges

#20minutesaday

This is recycled from earlier in the year but it’s such a fantastic goal I wanted to repeat it. SoΒ for every day in September I’m going to exercise for just 20 minutes. If you’re keen to join in just snap a pic of you exercising and hashtag it #20minutesaday. I’ll be focusing on legs – I’m a bridesmaid in November and I’m wearing a short dress so it’s all about getting super hot pins before then.

#cleaneating

I read a rant on a personal trainers Facebook page recently about how much they hate the term ‘clean eating’. They were saying it’s ambiguous and polarising. I totally disagree. I love the term clean eating and for me it means eating clean. Like stuff that doesn’t come in packages and isn’t processed. For the whole of September I’ll only be eating foods that can be hunted or gathered. Which means no processed snacks or refined sugars. Lots of fresh veggies, fruit and meat for me. Want to join? Just snap a pic of your super clean meal and hashtag it #cleaneating.

#9pmscreenfree

I try to do this continuously but sometimes I take on a few too many projects and I let it slip. I’m going to be super strict on myself and make sure my phone goes on do not disturb mode at 9pm, the computer gets turned off and I’m not allowed to touch either until the next morning. I can’t be as strict about the TV because I live in a one bedroom apartment with my partner but I’m going to aim to be in bed and reading by 10pm every night. Want to join? Simply post a sign off at 9pm on Instagram or Facebook at 9pm each night in September with the hashtag #9pmscreenfreemarch.

What challenges have you set for yourself this month? Are joining in on this month’s Smaggle challenges?

By the way you should totally sign up for theΒ Smaggle newsletterΒ and likeΒ Smags on Facebook. I heard a rumour that Beyonce subscribes to the Smaggle newsletter. I made that rumour up but still…

I’d love to smash out my 10,000 steps every day in September – that really would be an achievement! Here’s to smashing goals!

10,000 steps every day in September is a great goal!! I might get on board with that one πŸ™‚

I’m already in the habit of 10,000 steps every day (although my apple watch is a bit more generous with my steps than my fitbit was!) so I wanted to really up it for September and make sure I slam some proper exercise.

Timely! A colleague and I starting clean eating on 1 Sept as well – I will go for a month, but she doesn’t have an end date πŸ˜‰ Husband is doing low- FODMAP for health so this will be a way we can both have a challenge

I want to try FODMAP but I’m addicted to garlic and onions… maybe I should just get over it! πŸ™‚

I’m aiming for exercise every day, and at least 5 AFDs a week. Need to lose that winter tum!

I generally always have 5 AFDs but not in the last three weeks and I feel wretched. I need to get better at not drinking when I’m travelling. I go to Canberra and it’s like ‘Oh! Lets drink a bottle of wine every night!’

I think I need to get some great health goals for September! You’ve got me thinking – I would love to smash some exercise/eating goals x

Love this! I’m altering #cleaneating to #sugarfreeseptember where I eat nothing packaged that contains more than 5g/100g of sugar!

That’s similar to what I’m doing. Pretty much only eating stuff that can be hunted or gathered. It’s my way of kicking my protein bar habit. πŸ™‚

I’m in for the exercising and clean eating…with the exception of some super 10 course banquet type of thing I have to attend at a friends on Thursday, but I’ll add an extra day to make up. This is a great one Carly.

Oh what a shame you have to attend a 10 course dinner on Thursday! πŸ™‚ Have fun and go for it. I’d totally break my healthy diet for that!

In! Not sure if I’ll be fully non-packaged eating but I AM going to eat more healthfully this month. Except tomorrow, because I’m coming off a self-imposed no chocolate and no delicious salty snacks month so I’m celebrating with barbecue shapes πŸ™‚

Yep that’s my biggest downfall too! Although I still always choose the ‘healthy’ options I’m giving up my protein bars and popcorn too!

  10. I’m in! This is just the kick up the ass I need!! Thanks Lady Smags x

I’m in for the #9pmscreenfree the other 2 I do most of the time so this will be a HUGE challenge for me.
