9 Super Sweet Things That Will Totally Brighten Your Day

9 Super Sweet Things That Will Totally Brighten Your Day

his is my favourite regular segment on Smaggle. I write little lists of lovely things to do to brighten your week. It’s a tribute to the late great Diana Vreeland who had a column in Harper’s Bazaar called ‘Why don’t you…?’ where she’d write a decadent and beautiful list of life suggestions for her readers. Here are 9 super sweet things that will totally brighten your day…

brighten your day

Why don’t you…?

1. Collect little delicious leather zipper cases? Keep your important trinkets safe inside your bag? Earphones? Make up mirror? Train money?

2. Have an afternoon nap? In the nude?

3. Make bite sized snacks in egg cups? A tiny sashimi side salad? A miniature ice cream sundae?

4. Order personalised stationary? Start sending sweet thank you notes to people who host you for parties or weekends away?

5. Write yourself love notes on post-its? ‘Up and at em’ gorgeous!’ beside your bed? ‘Don’t forget your lunch, hot stuff!’ on the fridge?

6. Eat your breakfast outside? On your balcony? Front lawn? Street corner?

7. Wear your fancy undies? Just for you?

8.  Spritz on some boy fragrance today? Steal it from your man? Brother? Housemate?

9. Greet your friends with a kiss on each cheek?

    Yay for fancy undies!

I have my own boy fragrance – Vetiver by Guerlain (it’s technically a male scent but ladies are officially permitted to wear it). At uni I used to wear Fahrenheit just because I liked it (I stole it from my little bro) but it started giving me headaches so I had to stop 🙁

I used to wear CK one when I was at uni – I think it’s a lovely starter fragrance! I like very oriental, slightly woody sexy scents now!

  2. Fancy undies and breakfast outside sounds good to me!

I do so love these lists! I’m on the market for a replacement mesh bag for in my purse and a small mirror to go in it, and I’ve decided to treat myself when I reach a specific goal next week.

Muji! All the way Muji. I pretty much buy all my organisation stuff from Muji. It’s not branded which is my favourite thing ever.

I agree with Malinda – fancy undies and breakfast outside sounds very appealing! Oh and after having my second baby I like wearing my husband’s fragrance – all the ones I own are too sweet now.

Oh wow what a good point! You know it’s probably because you smell quite sweet – breast feeding mums smell like cake! 🙂

Did breakfast outside on my parent’s patio this morning, and I’m linking the sound of an afternoon nap too. Thanks for the list Carly 🙂

I had teeny tiny nap last night on my partners lap. It was the best. I was falling asleep in front of the TV and I curled up shut my eyes for ten minutes. It was amazing.

I love these lists. They always inspire me to be a little more whimsical and to indulge a little more. xo

Boy fragrance!!! Takes me back to regularly sneaking a spritz of my Dad’s Davidoff Cool Water. Might have to go and steal some Polo belonging to Handy Hubby.
