9 Little Pleasures You Should Totally Indulge In

his is my favourite regular segment on Smaggle. I write little lists of lovely things to do to brighten your week. It’s a tribute to the late great Diana Vreeland who had a column in Harper’s Bazaar called ‘Why don’t you…?’ where she’d write a decadent and beautiful list of life suggestions for her readers. Sometimes you just need to do something totally lovely for yourself so here are 9 little pleasures you should totally indulge in…

little pleasures

Why don’t you…?

1. See a play? Instead of your usual Friday night movie? Get all dolled up? Have a glass of wine and a sweet treat at interval?

2. Start signing your name with a tiny personalised doodle? A little heart? A dandelion? Little bird feet prints?

3. Have lunch at a pub? Have a pint and pie?

4. Keep a wooden chest of delicious cushions and blankets at home? Offer them to guests to make their visit more comfortable?

5. Eat eggs? Boiled as a snack? Poached on toast? With lashings of tomato sauce on a homemade burger?

6. Play computer games? Crack open a beer and chill out for a few hours playing Mario Kart with friends?

7. Wear two chunky scarves at once? Pink and blue? Stripes and spots?

8. Take a small house plant for the hostess next time you’re invited for dinner? Tuck a sweet thank you card in it branches?

9. Grab a stack of plain note cards and a permanent marker? Write some inspirational quotes? Slip them into letter boxes or under random doors on your way to work?

Do you have anything gorgeous planned this week? A little me time?

Research has shown that people who subscribe to the Smaggle newsletter and like Smags on Facebook are, on average at least 32% better looking than people who don’t. You can’t argue with questionable science like that.

My me time was last week – went to Brisbane, stayed in a fancy hotel, shopped, went to art galleries – even ordered room service for dinner!! Home now, but totally going to use the fancy china and linen napkin for my lunch today. Xx

Oh how lovely! I adore room service – I get it every time I’m away for conference!

Love the idea of getting all prettied up and going to see a play instead of the standard movie date… what a gorgeous idea!
My me time is usually heading to a cafe with a good book and tuning out for an hour 🙂 bliss!

I love doing that! I don’t do it as often now I live in Melbourne which is silly, I really should do it more often!
