How To Focus When You Have Too Many Interests

How To Focus When You Have Too Many Interests

ast week I put up an ‘Ask me anything!’ post and got some rad questions, mainly about juggling so many interests and also a few about alcohol and James Bond. I also got a few requests for daily outfit shots and I promise I’ll do some more soon – It’s just still quite cold in Melbourne so I’m pretty much wearing the same coat every day. Very boring.

focus when you have too many interests

Dawn – Favourite Bond?

I don’t actually have a favourite Bond because I’m not a huge Bond fan (I’ve fallen asleep in almost all of them and make that twice for Casino Royale) but I’d have to pre-emptively say that Idris Elba will be my favourite Bond once movie execs get the gumption to finally cast him. Until then Daniel Craig.

Michelle – What is your favourite cocktail?

I pretty much drink anything but given the choice I’d like a frozen margarita or an espresso martini please. Oh or an Old Fashioned! Honestly I’m not fussy about booze. Hand me anything drinkable and slightly alcoholic and I’m a happy lady. Scenario A is always a glass of Pepper Jack Shiraz though.

Heather – I am only new to the blog. Do you have a ‘day job’ besides the blog?

Short answer: no. Long answer: I used work at a university and then I taught at special needs schools part-time for a few years to build up my business. I now blog, freelance write, teach blogging and speak professionally for a living and I’ve been doing that for about two years and I love it. It’s very hard work (like harder than any other work I’ve ever done) but it’s awesome and something I’ve been working towards for what feels like a life time.

Christine – Absolute ‘must see’ place for a week’s holiday in Melbourne?

Go to see an exhibit at the NGV, see a show at any of theatres (they’re all gorgeous!), have cocktails at Madame Brussels, have a beer at Naked in the Sky in Fitzroy (beautiful views of Melbourne), go to Trapt, have a picnic in Carlton Gardens near museum and have a coffee on Degraves Street.

Skyebrean – ooooooo, where to start? How about tips for focusing when you have many (and varied) interests?

I struggled with this for years and I truly believe you make time for things you’re passionate about. I don’t struggle to focus on anything I do because I love it all – if I struggle to focus on a thing, then it’s not really my thing. I explain it much better in this article Is Your Passion Your Passion?. I’m also very twitchy and really crap at relaxing so I need to have a lot of stuff going on in my life otherwise I get bored and do stupid shit like start new businesses or bleach my hair for no reason. My advice is always do more of what makes you happy and less of what makes you unhappy.

If you have a burning question you’ve always wanted to ask me – go ahead! I’ve got 3 Essie nail polish packs to give away too so go nuts.

Also… what’s your favourite cocktail? I’m curious now…

Hi Carly after watching a recent vlog (?) post by Kirsten&Co I think I’d like to try a French Martini! Watch it for yourself!

My default, go-to cocktail is a dirty martini. I love them. However, an Old Fashioned could potentially take it’s place as my go-to because I love them so much! A negroni is up there. I’m actually just really starting to kick off what I think will be a big cocktail phase of my life. I love wine, but I feel like this may be the summer of cocktails. And by summer, I mean spring, summer, possibly a fade into autumn and probably rounding out through winter as well.

Pepperjack Shiraz is excellent but Pepperjack Cab Sauv is even better. Seriously.

I’m currently really enjoying a “dark and stormy” when I am on the town (I just can’t get the hang of them at home).
As to questions: Favourite author/s? I myself find it difficult to narrow it down to just one 🙂

My favourite cocktail depends entirely on the time of year. In Winter I adore a Black Russian, and in Summer I’m all over a delicious gin and tonic.
