3 Things That Are Totally Tickling My Fancy

3 Things That Are Totally Tickling My Fancy

ou know the best things I’ve ever discovered have been recommended to me by a friend. Most of the make-up I use, the milk I drink and even my sports socks were all friend recommendations. About once a month I like to do a post about the things I’m loving in case you might like them too. You know the rules though… you have to recommend three things in the comments. I love discovering new stuff and you guys alway have the best suggestions. Here are three things that are totally tickling my fancy this month…

Fargo

Mr Smags and I were desperate for a new show to binge watch. We’re hanging out for the next season of Better Call Saul and Peepshow and we needed to fill the hole. We started watching Fargo a few nights ago and it has fast become a part of our nightly routine. It’s full of amazing actors like Martin Freeman, Billy Bob Thornton and Bob Odenkirk (filling the Saul hole quite nicely thank you!). It’s a black comedy/crime drama hybrid which is awesome for sick weirdos like me. Highly recommend it and it doesn’t require too much brain power which is a huge plus.

TWG Tea

I got obsessed with this stuff after a mate of mine jacked a bunch of TWG tea bags from the Qantas lounge. It’s stupidly expensive but stupidly awesome tea. Mr Smaggle brought me a tin of vanilla tea back from Singapore last time he was there and we’ve been allowing ourselves one delicious cup every day. It’s about $25 for 50gms – it’s practically criminal but I love it so much. Also a little bit of trivia: Their logo has the date 1837 on it which makes you think they’ve been around since 1837 but that’s just the date Singapore became a port for tea exchange. The company has only been around since 2009. Cheeky monkeys.

Brother Ali

I’m not hugely into popular music. My play list consists of mainly Michael Jackson and show tunes. If you asked me to name someone who’s released an album in the last year I’d have a really hard time coming up with an answer. Mr Smags is into hip hop and I’ve recently started listening to some of his music. My favourite is Brother Ali. He’s an albino Muslim from Minnesota and all of his songs are about love, respect and basically just living the shit out of life. Mr Smaggle and I even went to see one of his gigs are few weeks ago when he was in Australia and it was amazing. I got mad respect at a party the other day for knowing who Brother Ali was. Bonza.

  1. Loving:

British dramas because nobody does them better. Loved “Code of A Killer” starring John Simm about the first use of DNA profiling in a murder case and “Cilla” about Cilla Black, fab 60s music set in Liverpool. Hanging for the third series of Broadchurch.

Canadian Club whisky and dry ginger ale, I think it’s going to be my summer drink. Bit of mint from the garden makes it a cocktail. Classy.

My new skater dress from the BBC Shop. Blue with a TARDIS print. YASSSSSSS.

Oh I love Canadian Club! I’ve having a bit of a brown liquor moment recently! You need to send me the link to this Tardis dress. I’m a Whovian as of a few months ago! Proud?

    1. Suits – I have a terrible teen girl style crush on the lead actor
    2. Dior Nude Air – cross between a foundation and a BB cream. It’s light and gorgeous to wear with just the right amount of coverage
    3. Taking advantage of the cool weather today and whipping up a delicious quiche

Big tea drinker here – am quite fussy, so would love to try twg tea. Might start dropping some hints for Christmas. I am loving at the moment: 1. Cooking with black beans – so versatile, so nutritious – love the burger patties yum. 2. My dry fryer or air fryer – new kitchen toy. Saw them a while ago at about $300 – pah way too dear. On sale a couple of weeks ago for $96 – much better. Can’t wait to try spring rolls. 3. Conf3ss shoes – Aussie company – BRILLIANT idea – basic shoes in either nude or black – with interchangeable colour straps – a gazillion combos from one pair of shoes. So great for travelling and saving space in your wardrobe – my new shoe obsession. Happy Movember lovelies xx

TWG is the bomb. We finished all ours – we have to wait until the next trip to Singapore to get it! It’s a bit cheaper than buying it at DJs! Oh I’m totally going to look up those shoes! They sound great!

Making porridge with quick oats/chia and dried fruit in my Keep Cup, breakfast on the run (I can’t eat when I first get up sometimes)
Indah body butters/balms – I feel like an Arabian princess and want one of all of them!
iZombie – it’s B-grade, it has cute boys, it makes me giggle

oh wow, I love this post! What’s tickling my fancy right now? The stendig calendar, my last one was in 2007, I’m well overdue. A spiralizer, I’m reaching the baby cheeses out of them right now. I want to make awesome veggie noodles from sweet potato and zucchini. Pinterest has the most incredible recipes. And podcasts, my house has never been cleaner, because I’m listening like a mofo to problogger, Brooke’s Slow Your Home and Quirkies podcasts are all favourites.

My brother in law gave me some TWG tea a few years ago for Christmas – Russian Caravan and Morroccan Mint. There’s something quite relaxing about making and drinking a pot of tea. I’m not sure if it’s the precision in brew times, or the fact that making tea is almost ritualistic, or maybe it’s just that it reminds me of home-ness (my mum is a tea drinker. She doesn’t drink anything else at all).
I’m loving coffee at the moment (but then, when don’t I?) – made worse by the fact that I ran out of both coffee and milk yesterday. I’m ~40km out of town, so they’ll have to wait until shopping tomorrow.
The Discover Weekly playlist on Spotify. Being a born and bred city girl, it’s surprising how much I love the country music that keeps coming up on this list.
My Kindle. I’ve loaded it up with a pile of sci-fi/fantasy books, and have rediscovered reading.
