Are You An Over-thinker?

I read this article very recently and suddenly every bad day, bad thought, every bout of low esteem I’ve ever experienced suddenly made sense.

I have high functioning anxiety or what looks like over-thinking. It doesn’t happen to me all the time but it presents itself really strangely. If I think a movie is going to sell out while I’m standing in the line, I will panic to the point of distraction. I will imagine the person in front of me buying 50 tickets and us just having to go home and it will make me frozen with anxiety. It’s ludicrous. It’s not like anyones is going to die but I can’t help it.

I also regret most of the things I say. After every social engagement, I go back over everything I said and I analyse my words and how people responded. ‘Was that inappropriate? Did that sound bitchy? Did I say something I wasn’t supposed to? Does that person hate me now?’

It’s exhausting being an over-thinker so this week on Straight and Curly, Kelly and I tackle the topic of being hard-core over-thinkers and how we deal with it.

    I read the same article! And yep, everything you’re saying here is stuff I totally identify with. FWIW, going to therapy has helped a lot so far for me :-). If you’re like me and identifying with all this stuff, I highly recommend therapy if it’s an option available to you.

      Raquel, thank you for mentioning therapy. Ive been toying with the idea of seeing someone for awhile now but always get caught in the ‘there are people worse off than me’ or ‘there are people who really need help, Im not that bad’ but it couldn’t hurt. Especially if its helped you, beauty! xxx

      That’s such a great suggestion. It’s a whole weird thing where Aussies are a bit weird about it but US people are like ‘I have 3 therapists!’. I should really give it a go.

    I can’t wait to listen because I over think like its my job!! I go over conversations ALL THE TIME & have been know to text people later on to apologise for something I think I’ve said or done that could have been taken the wrong way. I’ve laid in bed at night going over & over situations that cannot be changed at 2am. I’m also a Grade A catasrophiser. It is the actual worst!

    Omg this is so me I have to over think everything and then get so upset when things don’t go as planned and my anxiety just kicks in. I started an outlet which is my new blog at wespark1@wordpress.com this has allowed me to just relax
