What To Wear When You’ve Packed For A Trip Like An Idiot

his year man. I think I can safely say we’re all very done with it. It’s been bizarrely awesome but also a bit yucky and weirdly I think this has been reflected in my wardrobe. I’ve been getting less and less interested in fast and trendy fashion over the last few years but this year I’ve gone almost totally minimalistic. I barely even wear jewellery anymore.

I think it’s just that I don’t want to waste brain space on it. When I first started Smaggle I was in my early 20s and working in one of those magical jobs you could have before the GFC. Where you didn’t really do much and had to kind of try to find things to occupy yourself at work all day. Which is why I started this blog and why I cared so much about what I wore. I had the time to care. I’m not saying that people who are interested in fashion have a  lot of time on their hands – not at all! I’m just saying that I’ve had to take that brain space away from fashion and apply it to other things and I don’t really hate that very much. I’m also caring less about packing which is why I ended up looking like a Grey Garden’s extra yesterday. Eadie darling!

Wearing

* Dress from Metalicus *

* Cardigan from The Salvos *

*Shoes from Merrell *

* Coin necklace from my dear Poppy *

This outfit was worn for a frantic day working away at the coast with my mate. Crazy productive day that ended with a mental evening of flying to Canberra. I’ve spent most of the week at the hospital with Mr Smaggle because he had nose surgery and the remainder of the week freaking out every time I thought he stopped breathing. It’s been weirdly productive though this week – I’m a machine at the hospital! I’m keen to have a super restful weekend with Canberra crew. Hanging out for it!

What are you up to this weekend? Any lovely plans?

    Im loving this dress! Also, how is Mr Smaggle doing? I hope your tracking okay too, its not easy when your partner in crime is unwell, let alone in hospital and you’re worried sick. Thinking of you lovely people – have a wonderful holiday season! xxx

      Ah he’s not great actually – very, very slow recovery. He’ll be fine eventually but he’s kind of just sucking really hard at life. Thank you for asking! That’s really very sweet of you. x

    I have also stopped wearing jewellery. I think it stoped when I had the third baby & I just never started again. Now if I pop a necklace on I feel dressed up!
    I’m spending the weekend getting out caravan ready for our trip & general ” getting ready for Christmas/holidays” stuff. Not exciting but necessary.
    I hope Mr Smaggle is on the mend 🙂

      Thank you! I also stopped wearing jewellery when I was around kids a lot – they just grab at anything! I’m so jealous you have a caravan – that’s one of my bucket list items is to own and crochet the shit out of a caravan!

    2016 has been a ‘9’ year in numerology. That means the end of a cycle – lots of bad shit happens, things come to and end/head. I think everyone has felt it. Next year thought is a ‘1’ – shiny and new and good. Bring it on. x

      Oh that’s such a relief! Thank you so much. I love the thought of having a ‘1’ year! 🙂

    I hope Mr Smaggle is on the mend, that must’ve been distressing for both of you! And I’m LOVING the look, Grey Gardens and all LOL. Of course it could be that it’s similar to the outfit I’ve worn the last 2 days as I’ve been feeling unwell (comfy black maxi, grey long cardigan and slippers for me, so not the same level I know…).

      Oh no are you feeling better? I’m addicted to maxi dresses for when I’m feeling sick. I just can’t do tracksuit pants. It’s just not my bag. Mr Smags is recovery very slowly but still getting there! 🙂
