Things I Love and Things I Loathe

I

was cruising through Smaggle the other day doing some cleaning up and I stumbled across one of my old Loves and Loathes article so I thought I’d go all blast from the past and resurrect this vintage style post.

Sometimes it’s just nice to list the things you love to show thanks and list the things you loathe to let it go don’t you think?

Love

Loves

– Fancy anniversary dinners with my love. Mr Smaggle and I celebrated 11 years together a few weeks ago and we went to Epocha restaurant and it was just lovely. We don’t do fancy dinners often but we thought 11 years warranted something a bit spesh.

– Having my nails painted Smaggle turquoise.

– Saturday morning sleep ins with eggs and tea for breakfast on the couch.

Love

– Weddings. I recently went as a plus one to a wedding with a mate where I don’t know the bride and groom very well but I had a marvellous time. Give me a dance floor and I’m a happy lass.

– Friends who are the same size as you and pop emergency fancy dresses in the post at a moments notice. xxx

– Walking home from the gym every morning and watching the sun turn the Fitzroy streets pink.

– Mr Smaggle’s family farm. We’re heading there for a few weeks of work and I’m so excited.

– This month’s pattern release on Crochet Coach – I freaking love this bag, I’ve been using it every day. I’m also loving seeing people making it! Hot tip – there’s a 7 day free trial available on Crochet Coach this week. Just in case you wanted to give crochet a go but you weren’t sure if it was going to be your bag or not.

Love

– Re-watching The UK Office. Dawn and Tim forever!

– My new hair routine – will write about it soon once I’ve perfected it.

– The final season of Girls. It was really ace. I didn’t love all the seasons, but this one was awesome.

– Mineral water with lime. The non-drinkers dream.

– My 3 month booze ban ending! Yay!

Love

Loathes

– The road trip from Melbourne to Canberra. It’s SO BORING. I think we’ve just done it too many times. The first 4-ish hours are fine but the last few are torturous. We share the driving, pack snacks and listen to awesome audio books and podcasts but it’s still just draining and a bit shit.

– How I’ve lost 8cm off my waist in the past 3 months of healthy eating and exercise and I’ve lost only 2 kilos. It’s madness. I KNOW I shouldn’t care but it’s REALLY annoying. I also just don’t know how scientifically that’s possible. I get how you can lose that many centimetres and not lose kilos? Eventually I have to lose kilos right? Right? I am *this* close to hoovering a packet of protest Tim Tams.

Love

– People who won’t apologise when they’re wrong. I saw a young woman in a car going SPARE at a poor cyclist yelling at him for not being in the bike lane. The thing is, he WAS in the bike lane. It’s a weird road where the bike lane changes from the left hand side to the middle of the road. He was pointing at the green bike lane he was stopped in and she was still yelling at him to move. She then sped of while yelling out the window and giving him the finger. It made me really sad – he didn’t do anything wrong, she was wrong and ruined his day by yelling at him. I wish there was a way to fix stuff like that.

Oh also – it’s podcast day! Today Kelly and I are talking about being messy and whether or not it’s really that bad…

What about you? What things are you loving and loathing right now?

Are we mates on Facebook yet?

Makes sense about being smaller but the scale not reflecting that. If you’ve replaced fat with muscle – it’s more compact than fat – thus you’ll look smaller but the scale won’t show it. I follow the workout regime of https://www.t-tapp.com/ and it’s focus is on losing inches not pounds. I’ve heard of people losing 8.5 inches and not losing one pound. Looking forward to reading more about your progress – and our hair routine! Dying to read about that! (my curls have a mind of their own).

I had doctor tell me that’s not true so I don’t know what to believe. It’s also annoying when I get told I should lose ten kilos, do everything the Dr says and then told ‘not to worry too much about the scales’. Am I worrying about the scales or not? My hair has been killing me ages! I’ll get more info to you guys soon!

I don’t believe your doctor 🙂 Turns out that a pound of fat takes up four times the space of a pound of muscle! Huh. Who knew? (well, they did – http://www.nytimes.com/2010/08/31/health/31brod.html)

It’s also annoying because I want to lose actual weight for increased fitness performance. If I weigh the same but I’m smaller and denser that doesn’t really help me. 🙂

Love that I lost an inch off my hips. Because of this, however, my underwear refused to stay up anymore. Hate that when I went to replace the underwear I actually had to go UP two sizes. I was very confused by this and wasted money on too-small ones I’d assumed were the right size. I’m smaller now than I’ve been in a decade, so shouldn’t the number in my panties be smaller? Once I bought the correct size according to my measurements I realized they’re practically identical to the last of the ones I wore before I’d gained the weight (just a thinner waistband and they sit a bit lower). So when they redesigned my favorite bikinis into a lower cut to suit modern jeans, my size actually got adjusted up two numbers and I never knew it until now. I guess I’d better always measure!

Don’t you bloody hate that? If they’re going to change the size they should tell you they’ve done it! My underwear is the first thing that stops working when I lose weight. 🙂

I love these kinds of posts! I am loving that my blogging mojo is coming back to me after a big creativity slump. I love that I made a good decision for me today – something I’d been agonising over. I love that I’m back in a good position to get back to making my health a priority. I honestly right now don’t have it in me to loathe anything. I must be doing OK 🙂

    Love these posts!!
Absolutely loving F45 feel like ive showed up to the party 12months too late!
Hate that im having to start wearing long sleeves more often – goodbye summer 🙁

What doctor said the whole muscle weighing more than fat thing was wrong?!
Get a set of scales that measures body fat percentage. I gained weight after 4months of exercise/ healthy eating and was about to throw myself under a bus i was so deflated. Turned out my body fat had gone down 7% id lost 5kg in pure fat, but was carrying more muscle.
Yey for being healthy! But adios to my boobs (always the first to go!)

I adore it. I’ve lost almost no weight from doing it alone but it’s totally toned by body and changed the way I exercise. Been going strong for a year and the first thing I do when I go to a new place is look up the local f45 to book in. so good. The doctor who said that said it’s not entirely true – it tends to be something people tell themselves when they’re not working hard enough to lose weight – people can use it as a bit of a cop out. Which is true!

I love sleeping in on weekends too. Too lazy to make anything to eat though.

Oh totally. I’m always the one who makes food in the morning! Mr Smaggle knows exactly what you’re talking about. 🙂

    Love these lists!!
At the moment, I’m loving my local library- they’ve removed the $1 fee to reserve books, and you can now reserve books that are on the shelf (so they’ll put them aside for you), and now I have a little pile of books waiting for me every time I go to the library. For free! It’s so ace!
I read Matthew Reilly’s lastest book, I’ve got books about Elizabeth Taylor and about space, and one called Etiqutte and Espionage set in a girl’s school that doesn’t just teach the students how to curtesy!
I am loathing rudeness at the moment- struggling a bit at work with people who don’t respect common spaces and leave their mess everywhere. I don’t mind what your desk looks like (everyone’s an adult, that’s up to them), but your dishes go in the dishwasher, not dumped in the sink or on the bench on top of the dishwasher!!!!
One of my New Year’s resolutions was to care less about the work dishwasher. It’s not working out. I think I really struggle because I don’t have a dishwasher at home, so I can really appreciate what a luxury it is.
