The 13 Piece Travel Capsule Wardrobe: Day 5

The 13 Piece Travel Capsule Wardrobe: Day 5
Carly Jacobs
T

his was day 5 of my capsule wardrobe challenge. I had a lot of errands to do this day so I went with the cotton dress/shawl option. I just love shawls – I can wrap them around me if I get chilly when I’m working at a cafe or just throw them over my bag if it gets a bit hot.

Here are the other days in my capsule wardrobe challenge if you’re interested in how I’m trucking with just 13 items in my bag for 2 months. It’s going pretty bloody well. I haven’t needed anything I didn’t pack and it’s starting to make me wonder why I need all the clothes I still have at home. There will be a wardrobe clean out when I get back to Melbourne methinks…

Basically, I’m travelling around for a few months and these are the only items I packed with me.

1. White cotton dress from Cos

2. Black organic cotton dress from Gorman

3. Striped cotton dress from Muji

4. Patterned dress from Marimekko

5. Oversized cotton cardigan from Vinnies

6. Nude ballet flats from Merrell

7. Sandals from Toms

8. Leather boots from Ecco

9. Cotton scarf from Sportsgirl

10. Warm wrap (hand crocheted by me – learn to make your own!)

11. Black opaque tights

12. Grey knit tights

13. Down jacket from Muji

So every day, I only have 13 items to choose from every day. So far it’s been totally perfect. It saves me heaps of time and I can dress from summer days and chilly winter days too. Here’s what I put together for Day 5 of the challenge.

Wearing

2 (black cotton dress) + 7 (red sandals) + 8 (warm wrap)

This was worn for a day of running around, organising future photoshoots, writing and a big overhaul of some Crochet Coach content. I love this dress but it’s a bit sticky when it comes to dust and grime. You know how some dresses just end up looking a bit grotty at the end of the day? This is one of them. It’s getting better the more I wash it so maybe it just needs to be properly worn in.

I’m back home in Melbourne this Friday and I’ll shoot my Bali capsule wardrobe then. I took 4 dresses to Bali and 2 pairs of shoes. For real. I didn’t even buy anything while I was away. Stay tuned for the Bali capsule wardrobe!

Oh thank you so much! New hairdresser – she’s pretty rad! I’m thinking of going slightly lighter next time… gradual fade!
