The Best Dress In The World

The Best Dress In The World

f you’ve been reading Smaggle for a while you’ll know I’m a huge fan of Marimekko. The sole reason why I want to be a millionaire is so I can wear nothing but their clothing for the rest of my life. When I first saw this dress hanging up in the Emporium Store I had a love at first sight moment. I swore Lionel Richie started singing ‘Hello… is me you’re looking for?’ – and yes. It was this exact dress I was looking for… but it was $400. So… nope. I kept going in every week to visit the dress. I’d go up and gently stroke it, peeking at the price tag to see if it was on sale yet. I waited and waited until finally they had a 40% off sale. I was literally waiting outside the door when they opened at 9am. It was still pretty expensive (for me!) but I’ve had so much wear out of this dress and it brings me so much joy. I also get compliments every single time I wear it. It is indeed the best dress in the world.

Wearing

Marimekko dress

Shoes from Miz Mooz – I bought these for my mate’s wedding I’m was a bridesmaid for in November. So comfortable and versatile – I’m so stoked I bought them!

Coin necklace from my grandfather

Rings and earrings from Thailand, Bali and Byron Bay

This was worn for a semi-fancy day with a few events and things. I’ve got lots of lovely catch ups with friends and family over the next few days and it’s just wonderful to spend some time taking things slowly and re-charging my very flat batteries.

Have you ever had a love at first sight moment with an article of clothing? Did you buy it? Or regret not buying it?

I thought so too! I was like – ‘Yep I need this dress in my life.’ Honestly I was a heart beat away from full price for it!

Such a gorgeous dress! I do the ‘visit’ thing often with clothes and probably more so shoes. I try them on, and sometimes even ask the sales assistant if they’re on sale (you know, those secret sales that sometimes happen… Err, no). So, I’m right there with you. I try to follow the rule that if you can’t immediately afford it, then leave the shop and if you’re still thinking about it 24 hours later, make it happen – buy the shoes! It is actually quite rare that you will wake up still thinking about an item of clothing or shoes though.

I love that! I’m actually not too hard on myself because I hate almost everything so if I really, really love something I’ll let myself buy it because it only happens about once a year!

Awesome dress, ticks all the boxes for me, not to tight or to baggy, 3/4 sleeves, fab pattern, perfect length and pockets! Well jealous, enjoy. x

The pockets are the best bit! That way I never have carry a bag with me!
