9 Things That Are Just Bloody Delightful

9 Things That Are Just Bloody Delightful

his is my favourite regular segment on Smaggle. I write little lists of lovely things to do to brighten your week. It’s a tribute to the late great Diana Vreeland who had a column in Harper’s Bazaar called ‘Why don’t you…?’ where she’d write a decadent and beautiful list of life suggestions for her readers. We don’t usually take enough time to just do nice things for ourselves so here are 9 little things to do that are just bloody delightful…

delightful

Why don’t you…?

1. Blow up a balloon in the office? Make a rule that you have to keep it off the ground? Brighten up a dull afternoon with a playful little game?

2. Do something wild like ride on the back of a motorbike? Go rollerblading? Or snow boarding?

3. Buy a melon baller? Make beautiful watermelon and rockmelon fruit salads? Just because?

4. Keep a sweet blush compact in your handbag? For lunch time top ups? Keep that glow going all day long?

5. Wear your favourite party dress to work this week? Dressed down with boots and a cardigan?

6. Make vegetable bake for dinner? Layer mushrooms, eggplant and spinach in a dish? Cover it in cheese? Bake it and serve with sweet potato fries?

7. Replace your standard brown or black eyeliner this week for something a little more flash? Blue? Green? Purple?

8. Try aromathery? A few drops of lavender oil on your pillow to help you get to sleep? A deep breath of orange oil to get you kick started in the morning?

9. Pop on your favourite romantic comedy and tackle your ironing basket? Have a cupboard of beautifully pressed clothes for the coming week?

10. Eat cinnamon? Sprinkled on yogurt? Stirred into your tea? With a banana on toast?

Do you have anything gorgeous planned this week?

Research has shown that people who subscribe to the Smaggle newsletter and like Smags on Facebook are, on average at least 32% better looking than people who don’t. You can’t argue with questionable science like that.

The lovely warm spring weather has caused my garden to go crazy. My nasturtiums are a riot of colour, so every day I pick a little posy and put them in a crystal vase somewhere I can see it all day. Ditto with my flat leaf parsley, I have a huge bunch in a pretty vase on the kitchen counter. Because it’s right there, I end up putting it in or on everything! Xx

I love spring when all the flowers come out! I’m stoked that I’m in Canberra for Floriade this year – I think I’ll take myself off there this weekend!

Love these. I was stuck in a little rut just over three years ago and decided to join a one new thing a week challenge. Starting a blog was about a month in. I’m pretty sure I’m the only one in the original group that is still partaking in the challenge. Some weeks I chose something simple, like a new food or restaurant. Other weeks I’m a tad more adventurous. This week, I might need to swap my eyeliner!
