* No blogger is an island. Get out in the community and talk to other bloggers.

* Think about what your readers want to read and what they respond to.

* Don’t copy other people. Be original.

* Blogging is more than just showing up to events. Bloggers are photographers, editors, designers, writers, reporters, accountants, marketers and social media experts. They also work really hard for very little fiscal rewards.

* Don’t spam. That includes two word comments on other blogs, ten links on twitter to the same post or innappropriate linking on other bloggers Facebook pages.

* Sarah goes by the mantra ‘If you wouldn’t say it on a street corner, don’t say it online‘. She asks if you would go up to someone in the street and say Hey have you read my latest post? Have you read my latest post? Have you read my latest post?. No? Then don’t do it any where else.

* When applying for jobs in the online arena it’s imperitive to showcase your work. Have a website, a blog or an online resume that you can link to.

* Don’t blog unless you have something important, educational or relevant to say.

* If you can manage it, be the same person everywhere. So if your blog is called Awesome Fashion your twitter handle should be @awesomefashion and so on.

* Value your readers. Respond to them. They want to know that they are being listened to.
