Here’s the recipe. What You Need 1 small chicken breast 2 eggs, whisked in bowl 1/4 red  capsicum diced 2 shallots finely sliced Semi-dried tomatoes cut in to strips 2 large handfuls of b Read the rest!

Gluten Free Crumpets… from a packet mix.

by Carly Jacobs
For those of you who don’t know, my man is a glutard. The poor little lamb also has a rather torturous obsession with baked goods, most of which are made from delicious and poisonous wheat. I’m pretty handy in the kitchen and can whip up some mean GF cookies and cakes but things like crumpets and pies are a little beyond my scope. Recipes for these exist but they usually require the grinding of seeds in Read the rest!

The Perfect Lunch

by Carly Jacobs
I found myself at home for lunch this Wednesday. Instead of heating up leftovers or slapping together an unappetising salad, I made up a plate of fresh tomato, deli meats and mustard. I ate it with chunks of spelt bread and a cup of rose tea. I’ve been trying to eat mindfully recently. To eat when I’m hungry and to eat what my body wants. I’m also enjoying presenting my food restaurant style. It Read the rest!

Easy Power Food Salad for a Quick Weeknight Dinner

by Carly Jacobs
I’m kind of sucking at life right now. I’m insanely busy, with constant deadlines and I actually had a friend stage an intervention last week, literally dragging me out of the house. Bad form Smaggle. After a weekend of organisation and catch ups, I’m feeling way more like my Type A self, but I still don’t have time to make anything semi-interesting for dinner on a weeknight. I swung Read the rest!

Refined carbohyrates are bad m’kay?

by Carly Jacobs
I usually avoid writing ‘diet’ posts because it seems to make people think that I have an eating disorder. FYI, I’m drinking red wine as I write this and I had a very sensible four squares of chocolate for dessert. I’m fine. I promise. I’ve also got enough junk in my trunk to last through months of unhealthy dieting before my stomach eats itself, so if we could all take chill p Read the rest!

Gluten Free Apple Berry Crumble

by Carly Jacobs
Now, before you ask, no. That’s not a picture of the apple berry crumble that I made. Reason being? My man is a fatty fatty boom batty who ate the whole damn thing before I had a chance to photograph it. I suspect it will be a dessert regular from now on, so I promise to photograph it for you next time. Before Mr Smaggle inhales it. In all fairness though, mine looked pretty similar. Except that it wa Read the rest!

Healthy Chicken and Lentil Stew Recipe for An Easy Winter Dinner

by Carly Jacobs
It’s the dead of winter here in frosty old Melbourne and my standard diet of salads and smoothies hasn’t been seen since April. Because it’s so cold I just want to drown myself in potato mash and pasta, but carbohydrates are no friend of mine. It’s hard to avoid them in the winter months though. This stew is made with lentils and brown rice, which are slow burning carbohydrates. They Read the rest!

Delicious Winter Dinner – Chilli Beef with Avocado and Sour Cream.

by Carly Jacobs
My man seriously flips his lid every time I make this, he loves it so much. I originally got the recipe from my friend but I’ve since lost it and I now make it from memory with a few changes. The best thing about this meal is that it’s cheap, it’s low carb and you can make it in one pot which leaves very little washing up. Leftovers also keep beautifully for the next day. Ingredients 1 kilo of le Read the rest!
