any moons ago I had a segment on Smaggle where I wrote little lists of lovely things to do to brighten your week. It was a tribute to the late great Diana Vreeland who had a column in Harperβs Bazaar called βWhy donβt youβ¦?β where sheβd write a decadent and beautiful list of life suggestions for her readers. I stopped doing them because no one seemed to read them but they remain my most requested posts to this day so I thought I’d give them another crack…
Why donβt youβ¦?
1. Keep a dish of old fashioned-cellophane wrapped candies on your coffee table?
2. Wear a sophisticated nude lip? With a subtle smokey eye?
3. Dab a little vanilla essence on a clean cloth and dust your shelves with it? Leave your home smelling like cake?
4. Dunk something in something else? A chocolate biscuit in your tea? A chunk of bread in your soup? A cracker into sour cream dip?
5. Eat kids food? Chicken nuggets? Cocktail frankfurts? Pop rocks?
6. Wear feathers? In your hair? As earrings? Hanging from a chain around your neck?
7. Have an in-between appointments visit with your hairdresser? Just for a deep conditioning treatment and a professional blow dry?
8. Make a spring wish list of things to do when the weather gets warmer? Have a night time picnic? Play football in the park? Go bike riding?
9. Plant herbs in anything but pot plants? Old shoes? Milk cartons? Vases? Tea cups?

What lovely things are you getting up to this week? Any dinner parties? Tea dates?

Did you know thereβs aΒ Smaggle newsletter? AndΒ Smags on Facebook? Thereβs lots of cool shit in both places so make sure you go to there.

Yay! Love these posts. I did number 9 in the weekend. Teacups in my garden. I also popped a succulent cutoff into a vase for some photos a few weeks ago – and its growing like a boss. Hence why my whole garden is packed with succulents! I think I can garden. Really it’s the succulents doing it for me! ?

Oh lovely! I adore little tea cup gardens. I only have a balcony at the moment but my wish when I won my own house is to fill it with gorgeous plants so it’s like I’m living in an indoor rainforrest!

Hi Carly, number 7 is my favourite on the list because I often neglect the hairdressers and I always regret it. It’s so relaxing and refreshing when someone else does your hair! This week I’m headed out for a drink with a company that I currently admire to discuss guest posting and although that is business i’m considering it a lovely thing because I am really looking forward to it. Second lovely thing is I have scheduled in is an adventure date with a new found friend tomorrow. We are going (rookie) skateboarding so it should be a good laugh! Kate, Wondrous x

I missed these lists!
I am doing no. 10, my tax return, tomorrow.
Might need to have a calming beverage after. Maybe in a fancy teacup rather than a vino glass.-

I’ve ticked off number 4 already. Indian for lunch today meant dunking delicious cheese naan bread into an even better chicken korma. Going to give number 3 a try the next time I dust as well. I love the smell of vanilla.

Dunking food is the bomb. I dunked a cracker in pate dip on the weekend. It was rad.

It’s so funny because I try to bring them back, every loves the first few but then people get bored with them and stop reading/commenting on them. I’ll give it a red hot got to keep them alive!
