9 Lovely Little Things That Will Make Your Week Wonderful

9 Lovely Little Things That Will Make Your Week Wonderful
Carly Jacobs

I had a very busy weekend – Mr Smaggle and I totally gutted our little apartment. I swear we took about 20 bags to the charity bins so I was a bit frazzled by the time we finished on Sunday night so I decided to resurrect one of my favourite kinds of posts. I write little lists of lovely things to do to brighten your week. It’s a tribute to the late great Diana Vreeland who had a column in Harper’s Bazaar called ‘Why don’t you…?’ where she’d write a decadent and beautiful list of life suggestions for her readers. We don’t usually take enough time to just do nice things for ourselves so here are 9 lovely little things that will make your week wonderful…

Why don’t you?

1. Have a hot chocolate instead of your usual afternoon latte? Two marshmallows? One pink, one white?

2. Wear a leopard print scarf? Looped through your denim jeans as a belt? Wrapped around your head in a turban? Tied to your leather shoulder bag?

3. Have an artistic friend ink a beautiful design on your skin for a special occasion? A silver feather just below your shoulder? Worn with a backless dress?

4. Go horse riding? Go karting? Paint balling? Anything that would have delighted you as a kid?

5. Make your food fun? Cut your sandwich into a heart shape with a cookie cutter? Add a decorative toothpick to a plate of olives?

6. Evoke a little Dorothy into your day? Paint your toenails bright sparkly red? All winter long?

7. Have snacky left overs for dinner tonight? A boiled egg? Some carrot sticks? A few slices of cold turkey? A handful of potato chips?

8. Save some cash and just go out for dessert? Eat dinner at home and splash out on a fancy slice of sticky date pudding? Donuts? Crepes?

9. Volunteer one evening a week? Walking dogs for the RSPCA? Collecting tickets for your local amateur theatre company?

What are your plans this week? Have anything fun pencilled in your diary?

Research has shown that people who subscribe to the Smaggle newsletter and like Smags on Facebook are, on average at least 32% better looking than people who don’t. You can’t argue with questionable science like that.

I only watch Nick Kyrios in tennis and only because Mr Smags went to school with him and he’s hilarious. Otherwise I have no idea what’s going on.
