Winter is Coming

by Carly Jacobs
Winter is my favourite season. I love soup, cardigans, blankets, hot cups of tea and a free pass to not be as vigilant about my bikini line. Here’s what I’ve been doing so far in the lead up to winter. It’s been a rather delightful week really. * Making roasts * Doing face masks * Drinking red wine * Exercising in the morning to warm myself up * Drinking lots of white and chai tea * Lathering my Read the rest!

Autumn Wishlist 2014

by Carly Jacobs
I simply adore the cooler weather. I’m not built for heat. My wellness guru Morgan says this is because I’m ‘very pitta‘ in the terms of the Ayurveda practice, which means that I’m already full of fire so leaving me out in the open in summer is like death by Tabasco sauce. This is apparently why I get so stabby on 30 degree days. Here I was thinking that I only liked winter for the sou Read the rest!

Retail Recommendation: My New Favorite Clothing Store

by Carly Jacobs
What delicious rainy weather we’re having in Melbourne! I just got back from a 5 day detox in Bali with Luxury Retreats Bali (stay tuned for my review next week!) and I’m feeling incredible. It’s the most relaxed and focussed I’ve felt in years. Namaste! First up on my agenda when I got back was a trip to the post office to pick up a dry body brush and some scented candles I ordered. Before Read the rest!

How to Dress Fancy When You Wish You Were Wearing Yoga Pants

by Carly Jacobs
Don’t get me wrong, I love to dress up, wear high heels and spend an hour applying a face full of slap. All that jazz. If I’m feeling particularly masochistic, I might even put false eyelashes on… because nothing says glamour like sticking polyester pubes to your eyelids. Most of the time I enjoy the ceremony of getting ready. Listening to some music, strapping myself into my Spanx and deciding at Read the rest!

What To Wear When You Work From Home

by Carly Jacobs
I have several different jobs, most of which don’t require me to leave the house. This means that my ‘work wardrobe’ is slightly different to most people. I need to wear something comfortable that I can move around in (I live in a one bedroom flat with my partner, who also works from home so most of the time my desk is the couch or the floor) but is also professional enough so that I can pop out f Read the rest!

How to Get Dressed When It’s 40 Degrees Outside

by Carly Jacobs
I live in Melbourne but before that I lived in Canberra. Both cities are notorious for being jacket worthy most months of the year and as such I’ve grown up into a summer non-lover. Give me minus 2 degrees and a roaring fire over sunburn and sweat any day. Unfortunately Melbourne tends to have a hell week in summer where the temperatures can hit 40 plus degrees and I spend most of that time in a funk of feeli Read the rest!

How To Look Semi-Polished When It’s 30 Degrees Outside

by Carly Jacobs
I’m a Melbourne gal so I only get too hot for a about one week out of the entire year but Melbourne being Melbourne will occasionally toss me a shocker of a day where I go from wearing thick wooly tights with boots to little summer dresses in the space of about half an hour. I teach special needs kids two days a week so I generally wear comfy clothes that I can get dirty on those days. On my freelance days I Read the rest!

How to Rock Horizontal Stripes When You Have Junk in Your Trunk

by Carly Jacobs
I’ve always avoided wearing horizontal stripes because I read in Vogue when I was 12 that they make you look super wide. Now that I’m a grown up I have a care factor of zero, I’ll wear whatever the damn hell I like. However I do still want to look my best so here’s a few tricks that I keep in mind when rocking the stripes so I don’t draw too much attention to my money maker.  Dress f Read the rest!

How To Wear Very Casual Shoes Without Looking Like You’re Carrying Your Heels In Your Handbag.

by Carly Jacobs
* Dress from Sportscraft * Toms Shoes from eBay  * Fiorelli sunglasses from Myer * Kenneth Jay Lane tiger bangle * Medalian bracelet from Mama Smaggle Buy a Funky Colour  My first pair of Toms shoes were grey and they always looked a bit like I was trying to make people not notice that I was wearing glorified sneakers. Those Toms died in the New York Hurricane of 2011 and I promptly replaced them with red one Read the rest!
