Autumn Wishlist 2014

by Carly Jacobs
I simply adore the cooler weather. I’m not built for heat. My wellness guru Morgan says this is because I’m ‘very pitta‘ in the terms of the Ayurveda practice, which means that I’m already full of fire so leaving me out in the open in summer is like death by Tabasco sauce. This is apparently why I get so stabby on 30 degree days. Here I was thinking that I only liked winter for the sou Read the rest!

The Every Day List

by Carly Jacobs
Image Us humans don’t always know what’s good for us. Truthfully we probably do know but our brains like to sabotage us sometimes. I know sometimes my brain is all ‘Let’s drink 5 pints of beer on a Tuesday afternoon. TASTY FACE!‘. Then I end up drunk at the pub,  yelling at a stranger about my theories of feminism on Game of Thrones at 11pm on a weeknight. I know what works for my bo Read the rest!

Retail Recommendation: My New Favorite Clothing Store

by Carly Jacobs
What delicious rainy weather we’re having in Melbourne! I just got back from a 5 day detox in Bali with Luxury Retreats Bali (stay tuned for my review next week!) and I’m feeling incredible. It’s the most relaxed and focussed I’ve felt in years. Namaste! First up on my agenda when I got back was a trip to the post office to pick up a dry body brush and some scented candles I ordered. Before Read the rest!

So You Had Sex and Now She’s Pregnant. How is That Her Fault?

by Carly Jacobs
Image I was having lunch with some friends the other day and the conversation steered towards one night stands. One of my friends told us about her cousin who’s ‘life is over’ because of a one night stand where the girl said she was on the pill ‘but wasn’t’. Now he has to ‘hand over half of his paycheck’ every week until the kid turns 18 because of an ‘innocent Read the rest!

What to Pack For Bali

by Carly Jacobs
It’s been a super busy week in Smaggle Land. Firstly, after 8 weeks of hard-core and flawless running training (seriously I didn’t even skip one session) I had to ditch my finale 10km run because I got struck down with the sleepy flu virus from hell on the same day my monthly friend came to visit. So the only activity I’ve been fit for this past week has been moaning on the couch in the foetal pos Read the rest!

How To Get Upgraded On Your Next Flight

by Carly Jacobs
I have never, ever been upgraded on a flight before and it really pisses me off. It’s like being picked last for sport. Which happens to me with more regularity. Also I fly a lot, heaps more than almost anyone I know, so it’s a statistical anomaly that it’s never happened to me. It seems like every person I’ve met has been upgraded at least once. I’ve been quizzing people for years a Read the rest!

The Strange Effect Being a Woman Can Have On Your Superannuation Fund

by Carly Jacobs
Sponsored by ATO (Australian Taxation Office)What’s the state of your superannuation? Honestly? Like most women in Australia it’s probably looking a little bit bleak. Unless you’ve been working full-time at the same job since you were 14 years old, chances are you’ll have chunks of cash in at least 5 different superannuation accounts and the thought of sorting it all out is so overwhelming Read the rest!

5 of The Best Australian Food Blogs

by Carly Jacobs
I remember back in the day when I first started blogging, we all had blog rolls down the side bar of our websites that show cased the blogs that we read and loved. Somewhere in the midst of improved blog designs and WordPress switch overs the old blog roll disappeared. I miss the days of discovering awesome blogs this way so I thought I’d pop together a list of my favourite food blogs that I’m loving at Read the rest!

What To Wear When You Work From Home

by Carly Jacobs
I have several different jobs, most of which don’t require me to leave the house. This means that my ‘work wardrobe’ is slightly different to most people. I need to wear something comfortable that I can move around in (I live in a one bedroom flat with my partner, who also works from home so most of the time my desk is the couch or the floor) but is also professional enough so that I can pop out f Read the rest!

9 Tips for Travelling In Singapore

by Carly Jacobs
I’ve been to Singapore about 20 times in my life but until about a month ago I’d never even left the airport. That’s not too surprising though because Changi Airport is like Disneyland for grown ups. You can get your feet eaten by fish, visit the pretty butterflies, shop until it hurts and there’s sushi EVERYWHERE. However on the recommendation of everyone who’s actually been there, I Read the rest!
