I don’t hate windy weather. I used to… when I was a teacher. Wind makes kids go feral and weirdly emotional. Students I had never seen cry would burst into tears for no reason and students that usually had all the energy in the world would be falling asleep at their desk. Call it old wives bullshit but wind does weird stuff to anyone under the age of 18. Not me though, it makes me feel sprightly and alive. Which is good because I live in a very, very windy city. I’m also not fussy about my hair – the more wind in it the better! I also love how the wind makes my cheeks all flushed and healthy looking. It also makes tea taste better don’t you think?
Dress from Metalicus – I bought this dress about 8 years ago and it cost me a fortune but it’s just about the best thing I’ve ever bought. It’s so comfortable, I’ve worn it for years. I beg Metalicus to re-make this dress every few years and I’m doing it again. Metalicus – if you’re listening – please re-make this dress. So many people want to buy it and it’s awesome. If you build it, they will come.

Crochet Kravitz Scarf made by me – Join Crochet Coach to make your own! For real, this pattern is super quick and super easy. I’ll have you crocheting it this weekend. Promise.
And a cheeky side shot because people keep asking for them. 21 weeks pregnant – I don’t know where my little queen is hiding but she’s in there somewhere and apparently the size of an endive lettuce. Sure…
How to dress for a windy day…
Keep your hemline low
I’m a massive fan of maxi dresses in colder seasons. I just pop some merino tights on underneath and cropped cardigan over the top and I’m toasty as fuck. I can wear quite lightweight dresses but still be warm if I layer enough underneath them. There’s also little chance of the wind flicking a maxi dress all the way over your head. I mean I’m sure it happens and if it does, it will be freaking hilarious so just embrace that moment of rare comedy gold.
Keep short dresses heavy and/or fitted
I’m not weird about the wind blowing my skirt up because I don’t want people to see my undies but it’s just annoying more than anything. I avoid floaty, short dresses on windy days because walking around with my arms pinned to my sides to stop my dress flying over my head is super annoying. I have some fitted and heavier drape dresses that are perfect for windy days.
Just wear pants
This is not an option for me because I’m not a huge pants wearer but for the rest of the population who don’t have mutant torsos, go pants man! Tucked into leather boots. Nail that rich old lady who lives in the country on a ‘property’ look.
This outfit was worn for a super quick coffee run this morning and a busy day of client work. Looking forward to a chill weekend, the last few have been bananas. I have a lot of work to do this weekend but will take some time to go for walks and do some lovely things too.
