How To Get Your Shit Together In 14 Days: Wholesome Habits 2 Week Challenge

How To Get Your Shit Together In 14 Days: Wholesome Habits 2 Week Challenge
Carly Jacobs
I

‘m so excited to finally ship this project (I love saying ‘ship’ – makes me feel like Seth Godin!). Seriously I’ve been working on this since last July – it’s had a longer gestation period than an actual human… but it’s been worth it, I promise.

This year Bupa is one of the major partners of Smaggle and I’ve been working with them for a while now preparing this challenge. I wanted to do a free health challenge but I didn’t want to put anyone under pressure – I really do think we have enough of that in our lives. So I had a meeting with the big wigs and we nutted out what the problem was with a lot of healthy eating plans, fitness regimes and lifestyle overhauls.

They main issue? They’re like a wrecking ball on your whole existence.

They just take over your life. Almost every healthy eating plan I’ve ever done gives me one ‘cheat meal’ a week and that’s just not realistic. No one wants to be on a healthy eating plan where you’re constantly worried about going to a restaurant on Saturday night and freaking out that they put too much butter on your mushrooms. That’s so not fun. They’re also very all or nothing. If you happen to fall off the wagon and have a few too many glasses of champers at a wedding, most programs don’t allow for this. So what do you do? Start again? Give up? It’s all just so rigid.

It’s dangerous to think in the opposite direction as well – I know of so many people who are all or nothing when it comes to healthy living. They’re either living on green smoothies and hitting the gym 6 days a week or they’re living on macaroni cheese and using the walk to the fridge as their cardio. This is also not a particularly brilliant idea.

I’ve been wanting to create a manageable wholesome habits challenge for years but I wanted to do it right. I sought advice from fitness instructors, qualified dieticians and medical professionals to create this challenge for my readers.

Who is this for?

Anyone who doesn’t want to spend all weekend dehydrating kale and activating almonds

Anyone who doesn’t want to spend 2 hours at the gym every day

Anyone who wants to make positive health changes without totally disrupting their lives

Anyone who wants to feel well and fit-ish but still wants to have an enjoyable life

Anyone who has been putting off getting in shape because they’re too busy

What exactly is it?

All the specific details will be released next week but the basic premise is to concentrate on just 3 things for 14 days.

Getting 30 minutes of exercise

Getting enough sleep (aiming for 8 hours)

Eating 5 cups of vegetables every day

This free challenge is all about setting yourself up with good daily habits. You can have a  few glasses of wine on a Saturday night and a chocolate biscuit one afternoon with your tea as long as you do these 3 things, every day. It’s that simple.

When does it start?

Monday 13th June – all details of the challenge will be released on Sunday 12th June but I just wanted to give you some time to get sorted. Oh it’s totally free to do!

How do I do this?

Sign up here – There will be a few emails for participants during the challenge.

Download and print off the program sticker chart – everyone loves a sticker chart!

Buy yourself some cute stickers so you can keep track of your progress. I got some little pink circles from Officeworks.

Join the Facebook group – I just thought it would be a good idea to have a place where everyone can chat during the challenge.

Follow me on snapchat – carly.jacobs – I’ll be documenting my journey every day over there, just so you know that I’m with you every step of the way.

I’d love for you to join me – It really is the perfect time of year for a mini, manageable health challenge. It’s winter, it’s the end of the financial year, school has well and truly kicked in and we’ve all probably had way too many microwave dinners in the past month. I know I have! I’m so excited to get stuck into this next week…

Love this idea. I like doing something positive as opposed to having to go without something.

That’s my favourite bit too! and It’s just good for those in-between times when you can’t commit to something more serious but you don’t really want to totally go nuts.

  5. This sounds like a manageable challenge and just what I need! Count me in!

Ever since I heard you talk about 5 cups of veggies a day it’s something ive wanted to try & fit into my life so I am TOTALLY in for this one ( even though the sleep thing will NEVER happen because my toddlers believe I can exist on broken sleep forEVA!!) I actually may even sign up for snapchat m, just for this challenge, even though I have zero clues about it!

Give snap chat a try! It’s actually really fun – you might need a child to explain it to you though. I did! So confusing.

This sounds totally doable and I’m in.
I’m good at getting the exercise most days.
Usually get enough sleep but not always.
And although I eat lots of vegetables I know I could do better.
It will be good to make checking up on these things a priority and every day.

Okay Carly, I’m going to bite the proverbial bullet and do this! I struggle to commit and follow through with daily health routines – hopping from this thing to that thing because… I don’t bloody know why! I guess when I think about it I am doing something towards my health every day, but I drive myself nuts being all over the place. You’d think with my prior health history I’d have myself on all sorts of strict programmes for this and that. I’m randomly sporadic with exercise, food and sleep.Sign me up! I may announce on my blog that I am taking part with a link back to you here, if that’s okay. Nothing like public accountability! Considering the gestation period of your efforts to bring this to us how can I not take part and honour your perserverance (spelling). I’m not on snapchat though and sorry, but I have no desire for snapchat. It freaks me the hell out with all those weird face swap thingies… nightmares. Xx

It’s winter where you are but it’s 110F here in Las Vegas making working out hard outside. I’m in!! I’ll have to get up early to walk the pups before the heat sets in!!

  14. Anne 8 years ago

If only my children would let me get 8 hours of sleep! I will sign up!

  15. I’m in! Accountability is great! 🙂
