How to dress for a job interview…

How to dress for a job interview…

My last ‘Why don’t you…‘ post was quite popular so I thought I might make it a regular feature.

Why don’t you…

* Wear a crisp white dinner shirt with French cuffs and fasten them with spectacular and masculine cufflinks? And add a splash of red lippy?

* Drape yourself in head-to-toe black in marvelous shapes and textures and finish the look with brilliant silver stilettos? Chopsticks in your hair?

* Carry your documents in a vintage leather notebook cover?

* File your nails into short squares and paint them nude pink? Perhaps paint your pinkies with glitter so they sparkle when you gesture with your hands?

* Pluck your eyebrows into sweeping arches to make sure you look very, very alert?

* Abandon your usual heady scent and spritz yourself with some fresh rose oil?

* Wear a lace blouse? With a stiff black pants suit?

* Slather your hands with cream and wear cotton gloves to bed? For silky smoothness when you shake hands?

* Polish your shoes? And see that they compliment your handbag?

Love these. I’m in the middle of creating a 20-minute presentation on dressing for interviews and meetings that I will give to a class of college juniors next Tuesday. Gotta say, I’m gonna go more conservative for those greenies … but I’d do some of this myself for a job interview!

I do love these. I like the idea of glittery pinkies, I haven’t worn glitter varnish for years…

Just wanted to say how much I enjoy my “smaggle fix” each day – it’s the highlight of my working day!

The sparkly pinkies sound excellent, and it looks like I’m not the only one who thinks so 🙂 I also like the idea of mixing femininity with masculinity with the lace blouse, black suit combo, nice post! Although, I can’t wear nail polish anymore and the only jacket I’ll be wearing is a Chef’s jacket…

Great post. I think I saw you in Hansel and Gretel today, so if you were wondering why the girl making coffee was staring at you, I was just trying to work out if it was you. I thought it might be a bit odd to ask a stranger ‘Are you lady smaggle?’ 🙂

I just had one of those last week. I wish I found you before then. Dang.
Love the tips although I went for a nude lippy instead of red.
